Are the redtails really that bad? I have one right now in my tank with tiger barbs, corys, and siamese algea eaters. I see him chase some of the barbs around once in a while but thats all really.

That is the issue im running into trying to figure this out. I was hoping to go for money saving and thats why i wanted to do electricity free. But then i would need more plants for filtration, wich would require more lighting.

I wouldnt suggest keeping an arowana in a tank that size. Its just not wide enough and doesnt have the turnaround room for a fish that can easily reach 3 feet. I feel your pain. I LOVE arrows and i still cant get one because i just dont have a tank large enough :(

I find large schools of smaller fish great too! My tank is 110 gallons, and i have it stocked with lots of barbs and corys :) Thats a great size tank for a lot of small fish. Keep us posted with what you decide to do :) I always love to hear what other people are doing with their tanks!

Not a problem :)  everyone on here is always here to help if you ask!. We all have to start somewhere, even the most knowledgeable person knew nothing at one time. :p

I would really advise against this, they can easily grow a foot per year so it would be quickly outgrown, not to mention they like to have lots of swimming room.

Ya I just pushed a small bit of the bottom stem into the sand. Just an experiment to see how it works, figure its worth a shot! I've also just purchased some java fern and mosses so when those come in they can join my coconuts and maybe driftwood :)

Thats great news! I should be getting some Albino Bristle nose too! Hopefully they love the coconut caves. And the albinos should look great on my black sand and background ;)
