Oh boy it's been a while. I did move Rex to the 129 gallon quite a while ago, the bump remained though. This is the most recent picture I have, he looks much darker I believe due to the black sand/black background but he has more space. :)

I personally wouldn't put any fish in it but a betta would be doable. I'm not sure what kind of shrimp to suggest, sorry. If you can post your pH and water hardness someone may be able to help better :)

The white cloud minnows need cooler water than the betta, and bettas do not get lonely. They also can have some issues arise from over-eating by taking their tankmate's food, which is why I no longer keep bettas with anything.   I would re-home the minnows or set up a separate tank.

Did you cycle your tank before adding the fish? What are the water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)? When did you add the gourami/how long have you had him? What is the temperature?

Haha. Thank you! And yeah..what Ch4rlie said   Thank you I showed these pics to the person I got him from and he said he's never seen this sort of thing happen, usually it just heals, not form a bump. He's going to ask the breeder about it.

Thought I would post an update on Rex. His head has healed, sort of..I'm not sure why it's doing what it's doing though.

Feeder fish are generally riddled with illnesses that could pass on to your fish so I would not recommend getting a fish solely for that. I'm a little confused by your wording, is this supposed to be for a 30g or a 5g tank, or both?

Aw, if that doesn't work perhaps try something like ?  It may not be the best so you could try googling how to baffle filters for bettas to find something you like better

I'd recommend getting frozen bloodworms over freeze dried ones, the freeze dried are full of air and can cause bloating. If you have to get the freeze dried definitely soak for a while before feeding them.

I re-homed him as well. I should have asked you first, I'm sorry. The person who took him was incredibly nice and seemed knowledgeable :) Thank you. They're all re-homed now, just have the tanks left to deal with.

What type of substrate do you have? What are your readings for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? What's your water change schedule (amount & %), and do you vacuum when you do it?

What type of test kit are you using? Liquid or strips?   The BN could have just been weak, or perhaps its due to the tank not being established. Can you elaborate on how he was acting miserable?   What sort of maintenance do you do on the filter?   I'd bump the water changes to at least 25% each...
