    Feeder Tank/daphnia

I think I added a pinch of bicarb of soda too to buffer the ph and stop it crashing   @frothhelmet - do you use any aeration or heating on the bottles or just place them on the window sill? I'd be up for giving this a go - anything to minimise the mad scientist mess of tubes and bubbling vats of...

    Feeder Tank/daphnia

Don't want a filter as it will suck up the daphnia. Just a bare tank - about 80 degrees and set the airline so its producing only a couple of bubbles per second just to break the surface. To feed you just dissovle a pinch of yeast in water and mix into the tank just to turn the water slightly...

    Feeder Tank/daphnia

Daphnia are easy I use a 10 gallon tank all you need is a heater for the winter months and an airline giving a slow bubble to keep surface slightly agitated. You can feed on yeast / paprika mix - really easy

What Are These White Worms / Growths Appearing In Tank?

Thanks for all the info - I did as heavy a tank clean as I could with fry present and removed 99% of the hydra I'm not going to dose any meds with the fry I'm going to wait until this batch has grown out and then nuke the tank. Speaking to another apisto breeder I gather that when feeding almost...

What Are These White Worms / Growths Appearing In Tank?

Can anyone please shed some light on what these white creatures / things are growing on the glass and substrate of my grow out tank? I've seen them before when I was growing out Corydoras fry and I assume they are caused by overfeeding of a small 10 gallon tank? Any help appreciated - many thanks.

Lighting For 2 Foot Tanganyika Multi Shell Dweller Tank?

This is the tank at the moment just bought some sand only went for one bag and it worked out at about just under an inch throughout the tank - hope this will be enough but can easily add more. Need to get a bigger heater as I'm maxing out my 55 watt heater keeping the temp up at 30 for the...

Lighting For 2 Foot Tanganyika Multi Shell Dweller Tank?

Fantastic thanks for the reply :) I have a plastic tray I could add to the tank to stop jumping - pretty ugly but not as ugly as a dried up fish on the carpet in the morning I suppose. Will look up those lights you mentioned, I was thinking of adding a marine blue effect or white / blue mix...

Lighting For 2 Foot Tanganyika Multi Shell Dweller Tank?

I recently acquired a 2 foot open topped tank which I have decided to use as a small Lake Tanganyika Neolamprologus Multifasciatus shell dweller setup. I will be purchasing a Fluval U2 filter (unless a better filter is recommended) and will be using sand / gravel with rocks and shells. I've...

Stocking Ideas For 2 Foot 70 Litre Open Top Aquarium

Those desert gobies look like really great fish - definitely on the list of possibilities now :) Neolamprologus look amazing but look like they may grow too large for a 2 foot tank?

Stocking Ideas For 2 Foot 70 Litre Open Top Aquarium

All sound like great ideas - I have had difficulty getting soft water conditions for my blackwater tank - our tap water is slightly above neutral and slightly hard. I was thinking about a Lake Malawi African setup but I don't really know anything about those species.

Stocking Ideas For 2 Foot 70 Litre Open Top Aquarium

Just acquired a 2 foot 70 litre / 18 gallon aquarium and would love some ideas for a new setup. I already have a 64 litre Amazon Blackwater setup with floating plants, bogwood, dark tannin stained water, apistogrammas, corys and Neons. I would love to do something completely different for this...

    Help! Cory Feeding

I feed King British Catfish pellets - about one per fish - high protein and u can scatter them in the tank so each fish has a chance. Danios are greedy though and would probably still be able to gulp a whole one down. I feed algae wafer occasionally too. You could also try feedign them just...
