I have a sponge filter. Iv recently bought a eheim 2010 internal filter. How would i Transfer the bacteria from the sponge filter to the new filter? Would i cut peices of the sponge up an put it in with the sponge in the internal filter? And if so how long would i have to leave the sponge filter...

Just because my sand isnt the roundest gravel yo can buy and i wouldnt want my catfish hurting themslves on it. Although i may just buy more smoother gravel and throw it on top of the old

Great, i thought id have to buy specialised sand so thats a good cheap option. If i just change out my gravel for sand will that be ok? Cus i read somewhere about all the good bacteria your gravel holds

What i am doing is exchanging all my ornaments, castles etc for a 3d background, extra gravel and a large piece of bogwood and plants. To fix the background into place im going to need to empty the tank ideally. I have a small tank that i can transfer the fish in to while i do the exchange. But...

How do you attatch plants to bogwood? Also how do u keep plants living alive in your tank? I know this might sound stupid but if im putting them in to gravel how could they survive and grow? How would they take root? I might sound daft but i just cant see how i could sustain a plant in gravel :/
