lovely spiders, I just got a chaco gold knee, tiny little things. my green bottle blue was a bit of a sod but they certainly are lovely to look at - though I'm not sure if CFC would agree :lol: though he did just buy me a Theraphosa Apophysis so maybe he's learning to like them (maybe not)...

a lurcher is a cross between a sight hound (eg greyhound) and another breed, they come in loads of shapes and sizes. lovely dog, love lurchers, way too many in rescue centres (but that can be said about lots of dogs)

why wouldn't it be good for geckos? some geckos could live perfectly happily in it. my smaller cyrodactylus would love it, personally I like bigger enclosures for my cresties as they are so lively. but it is a perfectly acceptable size for them. an aboreal tarantula, some other aboreal geckos...

go to a fishmonger, they probably have it in their freezer (and probably cheaper than a pet shop too) that's where we get ours.

It might take a few moults to get a full sized claw back, so don't worry if it doesn't happen straight away.

corns are nice snakes, and good for beginners, I wouldn't suggest a pygmy cham. until you have some experience keeping exotics if you do go for a cham then I think the best one for a beginner is a yemen (thoughI haven't kept chams before and you would probably need to double check that). keeping a new animal of any species, even if you have kept similar should be researched thoroughly, as it was pointed out he is asking for pointers, and good on him, the herp keeper who thinks they know everything is a keeper with animals that are not looked after to their individual needs...

I personally wouldn't suggest the rough green snake to a beginner in keeping reptiles, though they are small and supposedly can be kept in a reasonably small enclosures (though I think keeping a few in a larger enclosure is the way to look after them), they have got specialist needs, firstly...

I've got some dwarf sand geckos (Triopicalctes triopicalctes) which are gorgeous to the extreme, they don't climb , but you can keep a group in a 10 gallon tank. Easy care, though the do need a heat source and eat small crickets (so you need to be able to get them). I don't know how easy they...

I can certainly see why. I got into geckos, hmmm geckos, love them, the rhacodactylus group are gorgeous; but garters interest me and that blue one is stunning.

certainly is a lovely snake, I to have never got into scorpions, but adore snakes (and lizards tarantulas etc) when you start on this path, it can be very addictive. Conrats on your new obsession, certainly started with a beautiful snake.

I agree with Grahamsokel about cornsnakes, being the best first time snakes, they were my first and introduced me to a whole world of exotic creatures, but I'm so glad I started with corns as they are very forgiving of a novice in reptiles and they are also incredibly beautiful.

I went with Lateral line, CFC ('cos I really had to) and Lateral line again, very interesting fella Lateral, would be great to talk to. Sorry CFC but it's the draw of the unknown. :rolleyes:
