Not wanting to start an argument, but I have always bought tanks that have that extra height. I think that it shows off the fish better and you can clearly distinguish the top/middle/bottom feeders. I also think that you can squeeze a few extra fish in as long as you don't overcrowd one area...

DMK - Have you phoned since your initial call or even emailed Trimar the photo? Have you specifically told them that you are unhappy with the fish and requested a replacement? I don't know if fish are covered by the same law that covers you if you were sent a faulty appliance? Jazz_UK

Another Gourami fan here! :wub: In my tank I have pairs of Cosby/Blue Gouramis, Golden Gouramis & Pearl Gouramis. I used to breed them when I was young and sell them to the LFS. Jazz

In my experience I have found that in a community tank it is better to have 2 females to 1 male gourami (or a larger mix), with plently of plants. As this means that one female is not contantly bullied. When moving a couple to the breeding tank, provide lots of plants for the female to hide...

If I were you I would wait a little longer than a week to add more fish, the fish you have just added may start a mini-cycle or may have a disease. You should let the new fish settle before adding new fish and also test your water to make sure that that any mini-cycle has been completed. Jazz_UK

Try saying that when drunk :crazy: :drink: But back to the point, my bala sharks often go down to the bottom of the tank and gulp down some sand and spit it out through their gills. Is this normal? Jazz_UK

Cat fish crazy - I have 3 Bala sharks and they all swim around in a line, almost if they are attached to each other. Tanked - The Blue Botia (Botia modesta or Orange Tailed Loach) shares many of the Clown loache's characteristics and grows to around 25cm (but that is in the wild!). Feline -...

Last but not least, ny new aquisition 3 young yoyo loaches. My wife seen these and wanted them, they were not in my original plan, but since entering the tank they have been the most active entertaining fish in the tank!

Female Pearl Gourami - I lost the male when my tank leaked, but now have one that is slightly larger than the female. It is currently recovering after being kept in a tank with some fin-nippers and was passed onto my LFS.

Jamnog - It allows me to mix two of my favourite hobbies, fishkeeping and photography!! Jazz_UK

Harlequin - took some time getting a close up of this, it is much easier to take as a shoal but often they are out of focus.
