Just how much would i get?

A lot of the overgrown plecos end up in show tanks in restaurants & hotels. Where they are happy to only have a few large fish on display and can afford the large tank & filtration! In was in a restaurant on Friday, where they had 2 large plecos (over 15") sharing the tank with various goldfish...

    Cleaning Ext Filter

Hi, I have had my external Ehiem Pro II filter running for around 3 months and think that it is time to clean it (I have lost the manual). Anyone else got one of these or some advise as to how to clean it. Some questions that I can think off 1) Do I I just wash it all in tank water or do I...

    Tank depth

Not wanting to start an argument, but I have always bought tanks that have that extra height. I think that it shows off the fish better and you can clearly distinguish the top/middle/bottom feeders. I also think that you can squeeze a few extra fish in as long as you don't overcrowd one area...

what is the easiets gourami to look after

Hi, The process which I used when I was a teenager (many years ago) to earn a few extra pence was... Select a pair that interact & are both showing their colours well. Move them to a tank without any filtration (so that top of water is still) Give them some floating plants or artificial mop...

how do u buy from trimar?

DMK - Have you phoned since your initial call or even emailed Trimar the photo? Have you specifically told them that you are unhappy with the fish and requested a replacement? I don't know if fish are covered by the same law that covers you if you were sent a faulty appliance? Jazz_UK

    Sultan Pleco

They have also been a lot of Lorricaridae discovered and as yet do not have common names or similar fish are grouped under a similar common name. So it is easier to identify them by their L Number so that you know exactly what fish it is. But to confuse things some fish have more than one L...

Crazy night, almost lost a gourami

In my experience I have found that in a community tank it is better to have 2 females to 1 male gourami (or a larger mix), with plently of plants. As this means that one female is not contantly bullied. When moving a couple to the breeding tank, provide lots of plants for the female to hide...

    Panda Loach? Jaguar Loach

Hi, I was in my LFS in Glasgow and seen some cool looking loaches  that were advertised as Jaguar Loaches (and previously Panda Loaches). The guys in the shop knew very little about them :( They are similar to the Yoyo in shape but have a strip then 3 dots then a strip etc along...

    new fishies

If I were you I would wait a little longer than a week to add more fish, the fish you have just added may start a mini-cycle or may have a disease. You should let the new fish settle before adding new fish and also test your water to make sure that that any mini-cycle has been completed. Jazz_UK

Try saying that when drunk  :drink: But back to the point, my bala sharks often go down to the bottom of the tank and gulp down some sand and spit it out through their gills. Is this normal? Jazz_UK
