Root tan or root tab? I've put in a tab. The plant still had the rockwool around it (when I first put it in I didn't know you were supposed to remove it) so I took that off, and the plant came apart in two pieces. Cleaned up both parts and planted them in the tank.

That was my thought with the change in substrate... Again, it had been doing well until I changed. It only started dying in the last month and a bit. That might solve my problem, then! Thanks again!

Doing a water change at night feels... So wrong!! I only did one on Sunday, too... I doubt I'll do a huge amount. Just enough to keep the temperature cool. Keep in mind that the temperature in my room (as it had been over the majority of the day) reaches around 30c at times - hotter in the dead...

Title's self-explanatory: my 170L tank is currently at 31 degrees Celsius, and I'm freaking out. Recent "heatwave" in my area (15-18c over the last two days) and now the water is at 31c. My bedroom is upstairs, has a carpeted floor and has a gaming pc that's been running a (pretty laggy) Dota 2...

Can't even get mystery snails in the UK. Such a pain. They can, but I haven't noticed much damage to my plants from them. Only from my bladder snails I think. -- And... Uh. I have a guppy fry! Just one for now, hadn't expected this to come so soon so I'm very unprepared.

Aah sunfish are fantastic! Absolutely love them. Minnows are also pretty cute, too. If I get into coldwater fish, I think the first fish I'll look at will be dojo loaches. Fantastic little things.
