    New, Hello!

    Hello 👋 and welcome.

    Scratching (flashing) & erratic behavior

My male gudgeon had a few rubs one day. It was only 3 or 4 times and never repeated, just like an itch as you say. Perhaps they can get an itch occasionally. It would just need a sensory nerve to fire without there being an external stimulus.

    3 Striped African Glass Catfish

I'm having trouble with AqAdvisor not recognising these. Can anyone here let me know if I can stock a 300l (75g) tank, 150cm long, with 6 or 7 of these alongside 10 golden barb 10 glowlight tetra 5 honey gourami (possibly) 10 bleeding heart tetras (to be added when tank mature) One side of the...

    First tank, Superfish 80l

No sooner have the gouramis' fry started swimming freely than Fork has built another bubble nest.

    BETTER FISHMATES.

I'll scrap the idea of angelfish! They need too much space!

I like that. Aquarist sounds very clinical, especially by comparison with aquariophile.

    Help betta fins look ragged

You're welcome. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! One thing worth a try might be doing a forum search for fin rot and see if that explains what you see. Otherwise I'm out of ideas :(

    BETTER FISHMATES.

I was counting on 5+ angelfish so that's good. Thanks for the suggestions Avel1896, I'll look at them.

    BETTER FISHMATES.

So what are good tankmates for angelfish? (I'm looking at them too). I know space is an issue but assuming about 75 gallons (300 litres). @George07 what size is your tank?

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

We flew in the face of the world before and paid for it in lives. There is an obsession within the government for standing out alone against the world as demonstrated by the obsession with Brexit. It's so scary living here that both my children are emigrating. I can't, sadly.

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

Our restrictions are about to lift, despite delta. The government think it's better to let us get on with it and fill the hospitals, again. I'm glad I'm medically retired and wouldn't be allowed back even if I were desperate to do so. I hated my job even before all this. Underfunded...

    First tank, Superfish 80l

So, the gouramis in tank 3 have produced a handful of fry again. I have about 5 or so left from their very first mating who I just released from their breeding box in tank 2 now they are 2 weeks and 3 days old. They are on liquifry and Hikari first bites, although I can only assume they eat...

    Moving an 80 litre tank

I'm having building work done to make space for a bigger tank. I need to move both my main tanks out of the room. Do I need to totally empty them - including substrate and plants - before moving the tanks themselves? Or can substrate and plants stay in place?

    My boi

I don't know where to start with so many questions!! What I can say is that I like your tank, I wouldn't add another fish to a betta tank, and while plants would change the minimalist aesthetic you have going on there they might suit Zeus (as long as they aren't plastic). I don't know enough...

    Soft water plants

Thank you Byron. I'm afraid I have no idea re the lighting spectrum. A timer was a problem as it flashed the lights before switching them all on, including the moonlight. I thought it might scare the fish. I can just switch it on later in the morning. I'll stop the CO2 and look at those...

Cloudy Tank - why oh why ?

Ooh. Why? Is that because it might improve on its own and they'd go hungry?

    Petsmart/petco

Only one of my tanks hasn't a totally fixed built in light and therefore the option to improve on it. I haven't yet found a tank for sale over here that doesn't come with a complete kit, which is frustrating.

    Planaria or Rhabdocoela

They have the eyes! Brilliant pics, by the way. So, definitely planaria. I'd give the tank and substrate a good wipe and vacuum if I were you and then consider treating it once you've removed any snails you want to keep, and probably the shrimp too. I reckon you got there in the end identifying...

    Soft water plants

I've been using AquaDip as per the instructions for a normally planted tank. I suspect it should have been used more as my Salvinia became pale. The light came integral to the tank which, itself, was designed for aquascaping so I assume it should be good for plants. I have it on about 15 hours a...

    Soft water plants

None of my plants are doing very well. Even fast growers stay still - no growth at all. But I need growing plants to help cycle my 'unexpected fry' tank. My water is really soft, GH 3, and I see many plants prefer hard water. Is there anything I could use with my soft water?

    Planaria or Rhabdocoela

I'd only seen the very arrow like pics too which is why I thought I'd scout around for comparisons with your new photos. That last one looks like it has 2 darkened areas where the 'eyes' go so, if the lighter spots just weren't clear enough due to resolution issues, I thought it might be a...

    Planaria or Rhabdocoela

I think one or two of those photos, like that last one, may resemble this enough to assume they are planarian worms. @Colin_T said to me they are only a threat to fish eggs. I thought they were a bigger risk than that, but only based on things I'd read on the net. If you're really worried I know...

Could it be leaching from the wood? Carbon in the filter would help clear it if so.

    Planaria or Rhabdocoela

If you're really worried then start with a large water change and really thorough gravel vac. It can't do any harm as long as your tap water doesn't differ much from your tank water (for pH etc. for your fish). After that there are chemicals I believe, but I'm still not convinced they're...
