Are you keeping the air above the gourami warm and moist for development of their breathing apparatus? My honey gourami bred themselves and I've just kept the air moist and fed them Hikari First Bites and brine shrimp. They are about 7 weeks old and already look like little fish.

Sorry I'm a bit late!! Everything has been answered by the look of it. Btw the filter is overpowered for the tank so if you have fish who prefer lighter flow you might be wise to get a different filter anyway. :)

I have a tank with very little substrate so there are blank holes where it has moved aside when I've added water. The baby fish in there seem to avoid swimming over the holes as if they dislike them - fitting Colin's and Byron's assessments.

So no filtration?

Unless the outside is brighter than inside the tank it's always going to be pretty reflective for fish all around the sides. There is probably not a great difference between blue and black unless the blue is very pale. To the fish in a bright tank it must be a bit like being watched through a 2...

It's also worth considering if Seachem would really use a fish toxic glue on their caps. ;)

I need to move my gourami fry to make space for new fry. If I move these older fry into the community tank how can I be sure they'll get their fry food? They don't come for it, but they can come across it in the smaller fry tank. I'm afraid it'll be lost in the larger tank.

The only action I have seen remains occasional forays by Hector from his cave. I was up in the night and watched for a while. Nothing. The fact that Hector is very much alive makes me think the others haven't all been wiped out by something. I know peacocks can be very aggressive when guarding...

It's certainly less than 20 for tanks with fish. Without fish, I don't know if it would really matter except for the risk of algae overgrowth.

I'd keep an eye on them in case of violence. If there is violence you may need to separate them with another tank or a divider - but that's another issue to consider if you come to it.

Well, I placed the food amongst the plants with a pipette, and some outside Hector's cave. Not a dicky bird. My dogs are showing more interest than I saw in the tank!

If Hector does have eggs I may want to transfer my gourami fry (now 5 weeks give or take) in with the peacocks to free up the spare tank for peacock fry. They're about 1/2" long or so, definitely too big for peacock mouths. I'll obviously make sure all parameters match as well as possible first...

Well I do hope peacocks behave the same because this has been 4 days now. I keep worrying they're dead (as you do)! And I miss them :sad:

There is a dark background and an adjustable light. I've been trying to get the plants to grow so using it on full but they just don't go anywhere even so! I've added water sprite today to darken things down a little and currently have the lights off, but still no sign except the male doing the...

The salvinia are no longer there though, and fewer tannins. I'd take one currently but turned all the lights off a little while ago in order to hopefully entice them all out.

It's a tall 80l set up on 18th May this year and cycled from 24th June with 6 fish originally (2 were misbehaving honey gouramis I took them out 5th July). Now I have just the 4 little peacocks left with plenty of planting (none tall yet) and hiding places- as you can see!

I've done an 80% water change and added some water sprite in case they wanted more floating cover (I'd taken most of the Salvinia for the fry tank).

I thought that was the one the OP said was her male, but didn't check - just assumed:blush:.

Ahhh. It's Emmets here, Grockles is Dorset et al.! And they wouldn't get far on the A30 this time of year!

Thanks @Colin_T I'll do another water change. It can't do any harm, whatever. I'd be impressed if all 3 females felt sisterly enough to help with the egg care though. They normally squabble a lot. And they're not hanging out around the cave... hmmm. I wish I knew where they're hanging out!
