Its 100% weekly for non cycled is how I read it, not daily :)
I know what you are saying though, I prefer cycled. Its a shame you don't know anyone with some media to spare :blink:
Don't think you have to have a filter? or at least you don't need it cycled?

He has in there , Narrow leaf Java Fern, Giant Vallis, Vallis, a few crypts, some Anubias....Nice easy plants oh and Flame moss which we really need to sell some! We have a big jar of it now :)

My Betta had popeye and was really ill, didn't think he was going to make it.
I changed over half his water every day at first and then treated the water, then just waited and he got better...
I bought some of these yesterday to go with my Endlers and Pygmy cories. They have great little characters already. My b/f has them too :good:

Amano shrimp are great at cleaning up, but if you feed them too much you will find they won't clean they will just wait for you to feed them :lol:
Perhaps a nerite snail would help? or some call them Zebra snails
