    Rate my tank

It does depend on what kind of Anubias you get some look really nice in a tank with very large leaves, but they are VERY slow growers in a tank, i grew mine underwater but let the leaves grow above water was it worked very very well until it blocked the light for everything else in the tank >_<

    Empty Bottles from TNC

I want to use them for the same purpose of putting fertiliser in them they are really nice a durable and easy to get the spoons in. I have 3 100g ones but would like the larger 250/500g tubs just makes it easier for me

    Empty Bottles from TNC

Strange request so I'm not 100% sure where to put this on the forum but does anyone have lying around the house any of the old TNC Fertiliser bottles for the Dry powder fert's that they no longer need? ideally 250g/500g If you are willing to part with them I could do with 2 or 3 250/500g I...

High nitrates in tap water / water changes

According to the website the cartridge should last 3 months but on another filters page it shows 6 months but it does depend on how much nitrate you have and how often you use it, Mine arrived today so il test it out tomorrow. I was very surprised at how small this is and how simple it was to...

Please help me figure out my lighting, ferts and CO2!

Firstly i would only recommend the dosing that it states on the bottle of the fertiliser that you have purchased, If you want to go more in depth you can do some research on what plants need and then what that bottle has and then maybe fill in what you are missing to get more.. However if you...

    Lighting help for a newbie....

Plants can survive without light for a lot longer than you think. I have had some Crypts surviving in a tank with no light for over 6 months, all they get is the ambient light from the sun/room it self and that is not direct sun light. as Colin mentions you maybe able to get this...

Removing Nitrate from tap water + testing

Luckily the air is pretty clean where i live only papermill's that chuck out a lot of steam "water" near by (within 10miles) but I'm not really keen on using the rain water really i don't think it will rain enough for the size of my tank and switching between rain water and tap water will...

    Replacing KNO3 with K2SO4

Due to my high Nitrate levels in both tank and tap water, I have found a suitable replacement for Dosing K by replacing KNO3 with K2SO4, done my research and it a good alternative but its the first I have heard of this, does anyone else here use this method as well?

Removing Nitrate from tap water + testing

so.. I tested the water in my water but.. not what i was expecting.. Going back a bit thought here are my Tank Parameters in terms of GH/KH/TDS GH = 10 KH = 5 TDS = 290 tested again this morning and it was 240 so i think this changes a lot. PH is between 7 and 7.5 for some reason my digital...

    Returning to the Fish World

Welcome back to the forums and fish keeping, I would personally put a square/rectangle tank in that spot something that fits, a nice heavily planted tank but scape it so its heavier on one side and opens out towards teh door so you can look in from two sides still finding a tank that fits a...

Ideas on mesh to keep substrate separated

Interesting thought with the roots, the products I am using / have spare around the house are ADA PowerSand special and ADA Amazonia, the PowerSand special contrary to its name is not sand but rocks and some soil mixed together plus other products. It’s placed at the very bottom on the glass...

Ideas on mesh to keep substrate separated

long story short, a tank I am going to be scaping soon but I use two different types of substrates / additives for a planted tank, in the past I have had problems with the bottom layer becoming mixed with the top layer and it just looks ugly and not ideal I thought of using some kind of mesh...

Inline Diffuser Or Small Powerhead For Co2?

hey ch4 long time no talk :) i would totally go with the in-line diffuser they are perfect and I have used them for well many many years now, get the old variant the one that looks like a V, the newer versions are rubbish personally and hugely flawed.   as long as your filter is rated above your...

Awesome don't forget, don't add ferts for a few weeks and keep your lights reduced as well or you will get algae more like I did, not sure on the co2 front but do your best to keep it stable And can't wait t see some pics
