    Diy Led Hood Build

You need one that has a current output equal to the operating current of the LED's, and is also 3W. Most can only power up to 6 LED's though so you might need more dependent on the number you're using.

    Suggestions For An 8L

Marine is tempting, I've kept marines before but my experience is still limited so I wouldn't want to go that small yet, I guess I could rear Endler fry in there, I'd need to put some in the main tank first though.

    Suggestions For An 8L

I've already had shrimp in there, I just want something different, shame it's so small as it's very limiting.

    Suggestions For An 8L

Thanks for the suggestions, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting Endler's in there or Chilli Rasbora's, obviously plants will be in there ;)

    Suggestions For An 8L

Besides Shrimp, a Betta, dwarf frogs and snails can anyone think of anything that would be suited to a tank of this size? Something unusual? Thanks.

Pearls Of The Antilles... Llj's Planted Marine

Hi Lis, just read through this as I've not been active for a while, sorry to hear about the problems you've been having, but we're all looking forward to your next salty venture!

    Make Your Own Dechlor.

Depends on your dilution, if it were me I'd put the crystals in a jug and top up with water to warm water to 1L, every 10ml's of solution would treat 31.36 litres.

    Bad Egg Smell

Just thought I'd clear a few things up, if you don't disturb the substrate, no problem and you shouldn't get any nasty smells either unless you disturb it. Anaerobic and anoxic zones develop where certain species of bacteria thrive, their digestion leads to the formation of hydrogen sulfide, a...

    Drop Checker Solution

Yes as long as it is the standard pH test kit and not the high range one. The other part you need is 4dKH water.

Starting My Own Aquatics Centre :)

If it were me I'd just give filter media away for free, or for what it costs for the media, it'd allow you to build a better rapport with customers instead of profiting from it. A lot of new fish keepers can be quite ignorant when it comes to cycling and by charging them they'll presume you're...

Starting My Own Aquatics Centre :)

Stock prices for most tropical fish are around 20-25p for your generic stuff. I wrote a business plan for a business I was planning on setting up and it just wasn't viable, for me to make any sort of profit I'd need to be making £500 a week. That's £26000, after tax and NI it's about £18500...

    New Led T8's Low Wattage

Rip off in my opinion, for the cost of one tube you could build your own better unit from high power LED's, if you can solder two wires together you can build your own unit quite easily.

I have considered an Android, the only reason I wont go with one is because previously all of the stuff I've bought from iTunes is only compatible with their products :( I've tried everything to get it to work on other platforms unless you have any pointers?

Best Place To Buy An Ipad

Hey all, currently interested in buying the new iPad, the 32GB Wi-fi model specifically, I can get it from ASDA for £432 (ex-employee discount) bearing in mind it RRP's at £480, so that £48 saving I get can go on music I'm after. Hot Water

Copper isn't soluble in water... After many years of fish keeping never have I encountered a problem using hot water to 'take the edge' off of cold water and my hot water comes from a tank. If you're only doing a 10 litre water change there's no need to heat up the replacement water anyway.

    Diy Led Hood Build

Well I can work it out gauged on my set up: 15USG tank, 6W of LED (2*3) so 6/15 = 0.4W/G That is low tech, maybe if everyone collated their results we could work out some general constant for lighting a tank using LED's?
  40. S

    Diy Led Hood Build

Use 8 3W LED's instead? That way you'll only need 2 drivers and if you use lenses you'll get roughly the same spread of light.
