Minnt, I've just been looking at pics online and found that before angels mate, they lock mouths. This is exactly what mine did, which I took as aggression, is it likely that they were just trying to breed? PS no ovipositors to see at the moment! Thanks, Mark

Fluttermoth is absolutely right! If your friend did some small changes (less than 20%) then they would not need to add dechlorinator and may be OK with managing that, even just a couple of jugs would help?

Maybe, except that the most aggressive angel was aggressive with all the other angels, and with the one I have moved in particular. The one I have moved was never aggressive at all. Is it possible that they are both males?

I believe that Corys would not bother the fry at all, and as they are bottom dwellers would compliment the guppies, but do not know how they cope with brackish water - maybe someone else can advise - I'm curious to find out!

I think there was stress due to overcrowding that lead to some of the fish fighting, there were some other casualties too, covered in another thread! It could have been old age, though, but then that doesn't explain the other deaths.

First thing I did - ammonia, nitrites and nitrates all zero!

About 10-12 Cardinals, shortly after the Betta died a couple of the tetras and some guppies died too. The Betta had some missing fins. I think that I had overstocked the tank which caused a fight, although it seemed peaceful to me, some lessons you learn the hard way.....

I got some assassin snails to get rid of the other ones which had become quite prolific, and they have done a great job. This evening I found two assassins on top of each other - is that likely to be reproducing, one eating another one, or nothing at all!? Thanks, Mark
