Assuming that it's not structural glass and just a lid, you could replace it with clear plastic. It's not unusual, though, for the light to be "above" the water with nothing in between. If you want to be extra safe, you could get a submersible light - that way it won't matter if it gets...

Has anyone has any experience of dwarf hairgrass? I'd love to get the green carpet look in a tank that has soil underneath the gravel so it's an environment where plants tend to do well. Is there a better option, or anything I should know before buying/planning? Thanks, Mark

Thanks all, my main reason for asking was to not have bubbles or gaps form. The Vaseline method looks good, agree will probably work better on the outside than on the inside!!
