With a bit of guessing, that's about 40-45 inches of fish in about 40 gallons, so you're probably fully stocked already?
PS - it sounds good as it is anyway!
I've been wondering how a tropical fish store would set up to be ready to cope with the large load of their first delivery (if that's how it works), and how their filters cope with such rapidly changing loads as fish are purchased and delivered.
Do they start off with prepared filter media, go...
Really? The tanks get loads of natural light, all I am trying to achieve with the switches is that the tanks are most enjoyable when I am in the lounge, and not having excessive light which may lead to unnecessary algae when I am not!!!
Forgive me if I have misunderstood you, but your comment...
Thanks, am very keen to buy something size appropriate for my tank!
What does MTS stand for, and will yoyo loaches add significantly to the bioload of my tank (already fully stocked)?
It's not too bad yet, so getting them out by hand/siphon is still a viable possibility!
Hi,
I went to my LFS a few weeks back to get some assassin snails, however when they told me that kribensis would do the job I got a couple of those instead. It does not seem to be working though!
Has anyone successfully used kribensis to get rid of snails, and how long has it taken to get a...
A male and female swordtail have been doing close proximity synchronised swimming for most of the evening!
Could this mean that fry may be coming? Should I start decorating the nursery!?
6 guppies, 9 inches
2 swordtails, 4 inches
6 neon tetras, 6 inches
2 bristle-nose plecos, 5 inches?
I'd guess that's 24 inches of fish in about 12 gallons of water assuming some space taken by substrate, etc. I'm a fine one to talk, but I think you are rather overstocked which may lead to...
- it may cheer her up a bit!
I'll see how he gets on in the other tank, am hoping that he will eat all the snails and not annoy the betta - may take you up on the offer though!
Interesting as we both got them from the same place! Maybe an aggressive batch, although he looks wonderful. I'll see how he gets on in the other tank I have put him in, and how the others get on with him not there.
After being away for a week with a friend feeding the fish (they may well have been overfed and had less good quality water than normal), I came back to two angelfish having ulcers, one guppy dead with no tail, and most of the other guppies with damaged tails. Some have subsequently died.
I've...
Got these last week and have set them up instead of timers. Love it - remote control means that the lights are only on when I am at home and want them on, and do not switch off if I happen to be up later than the timer was set for!
Similar products are also available!!!!
Thanks for the replies, most likely suggestion I have had is ulcers due to low quality water having been away so am doing lots of water changes with more stresscoat than normal - adding enough to treat the whole tank rather than just the new water.
Any other advice much appreciated,
M
I don't understand either, unless the terracotta has absorbed something then I'm stumped (but not been doing this long).
Have you any thoughts on my angels (see emergencies section like this thread)?
Edit - like to angels here
Please forgive me for asking something so obvious, but was your 100% water change thoroughly dechlorinated?
I would think that if adding the terracotta is the only change, then take it out and see if things improve. Sorry, I'm not sure about the chemistry of terracotta but it does seem odd...
Nothing that I've seen any aggression from: gourami, male guppies, platties, rams, glass cats, kuhli coaches, sword tails, corys and of course the angels. There are 7 angels.
Any idea to the problem please, is this disease or bullying?
225l tank 4 months old, well populated. Last ammonia reading zero, nitrate zero, nitrate low. Having been away it needs a water change so will post mire data later.
I've just been away for 5 days and had a friend feed my fish. Have come back and 2 of the angels seem in a very bad way.
Would really appreciate some advice - what is wrong with them and is there a solution?
Thanks,
Mark
Edit - these pics are of the same fish, the other effected one is...
Do you mean the whole filaments goes red, if so then I would have thought so. Lots on eBay, maybe check for an auction finishing soon that is near enough to collect today? Tank temperature will change slowly if you remove heater now, you could probably ramp up your house heating to keep tank in...
You are right it is rather busy at times, although they do seem to spread out. Some of the latest additions I did not intend to buy - I went to get an assassin snail and came back with the kribensis and 6 platties, and am thinking of giving away some of the platties.
The guppies tend to hang...
Lovely addition - is there any likelihood of a frog jumping out, or escaping out of the holes by there the pipes come in and out, and are they OK with no rocks or wood above the water's surface?
