Do you bury your fish when they pass away?

I usually bury my fish. Not for any particular reason, per se. Although when I was little I made a mini graveyard in the garden containing my dead fish and all the dead insects I found in my kiddie pool..... I was a weird kindergartener.

    Possible Betta Sorority?

Interesting! Thanks for everybody's help. My LFS isn't picky, I suspect they would take them pretty young- however, even breeding the bettas is a far, far away dream that will probably wait until I'm older/have more tanks to use. My original intent was just to see if a betta sorority was...

    Possible Betta Sorority?

Good point! I was thinking I would just take them to the pet store, though I'm not familiar with how old the fry are when they reach that point.

    Possible Betta Sorority?

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of varied opinions on the topic. I'm totally ok if it isn't a good idea, just thought it might be something to try. And I would definitely not put a male in with the females, the tank is way too small for that 😂

    Possible Betta Sorority?

I would only keep females in the sorority.

    Possible Betta Sorority?

Hello, my fellow fish nerds! I currently own a male betta (and have joint custody of another ) and I absolutely love them. My father, @WhistlingBadger, has a 30 long that is currently a paludarium, but it is a possibility in the distant future that he might upgrade his setup into a 55 gallon...

What’s new (fish related chat only)

I have been struggling with that myself. I am waiting for my plants to grow in, and then see if I like it better. But I think your tank looks great! Although, If you are really unhappy with it, might I advise trying a black background... I just use black construction paper. I taped some to the...

If you had all supplies and a tank for free, which fish/invertebrate would you choose? (For fun only🙂)

I'd love a tank big enough to have a really large betta sorority! I've also always wanted a reef tank with an octopus, but that would be a whole other level of complicated...

    A Terrible Fish Article

That was also a fun article. The white cloud mountain minnows look off, somehow... ;) The person who wrote this supposedly has a bachelor's degree in animal science. I have my doubts.

What’s new (fish related chat only)

Yesterday was a big aquarium day for me. I redid the decor on my 5 gallon betta tank, got a new betta, and started setting up a ten gallon in the living room. The new betta is younger than most pet store splendens, but I still think he's gorgeous! He's a blue mustard gas. For this ten gallon...

Anyone ever use fresh water scuds for live fish food?

Sometimes you don't feel like going on a multi-mile hike to the pond for fish food ;) The pond isn't road accessible, so you have to walk up a canyon to get to it. And the trail is going to be icy and muddy as heck for a few months. also the pond is frozen over right now. I've been thinking, I...

🐶 POTM Vote Now! - March 2023 Pet of the Month Contest

This is our family cat, Bug! And since my dad refuses to accept ownership of her, I thought I would enter her. Bug is around thirteen years old (we don't know exactly) and her one saving feature is how fat she is. Bug was adopted from a pet shelter in the next town over. She was found as a young...
