What Would U Put With Pair Of Ram Cichlid's ?

slight side topic, but would Barbs be suited with rams? or no? I wouldn;t recommend for OP becuase they are bottom/mid fish, but thought i would ask here instead of setting up a new thread. Sorry for the highjack!

Am I Fully Stocked Or Room For More Later?

yeah i got two bits of wood, both were soaked for days before they got in the tank. One is about 10-12 months old now and i think that its fine. The other is probs 2-3 months old and still leaks tannins like crazy...

    Stocking Suggestions

sounds like you have got a similar tank to me. I went down the Barb route, but i wouldn't recommend that with an Angel. I would agree with above, but maybe mix up your tetra a bit. I personally like a mix of slightly different fish, instead of one big group.

Am I Fully Stocked Or Room For More Later?

Does this work? i am constantly changing my water to battle with my bogwood and - although more water changes are better than less - i would be interested if some media in my filter could help me out!

Restocking Fish Tank - What Can I Have?

Shrimp should be OK, so long as they're big enough not to be eaten! As for barbs - most will anger the Betta. Cherry barbs are more friendly and you should get away with them, but def. not tiger, odessa, rosy - anything like that. I would agree with above - go for some tetra / rasbora / maybe...

    Household Ammonia

yeah i would let it drop down to 0 before adding more. As WD says, if its too high, it will encourage the wrong type of bacteria to grow

    My Rasbora - Help

Did you say you were doing a fish-in cycle? my guess would be that the fish was damaged by the build-up of harmful chemicals during your cycle... How long have you been cycling for?

    Lighting The Tank At Night

i have heard that any photo period under 4h is 'ignored' by the plants - so all your going to do is increase algae growth. So i wouldn't recommend the 2h morning + 6h evening idea. Don't know how much truth is in that though. Believe i heard it from Waterdrop so i believe it!

Biube - I Love The Look But Not The Spec

i had an Orb, and i will agree they are rubbish. Trying to remember how the Ube works, but i would guess you can take all the old stuff out and put whatever you want in it. But, i bet there is a cheaper way because BiUbes are very expencive in a cost / volume basis. Also, beware that you can...

New Member With First Weekly Water Change Experience

do you know the volume of your tank? my mental arithmatic [sp] isn't too good on your dimensions, but i would hazard a guess that 5 silver dollars might be over-stocking your tank. Let alone adding discus.

    Green Tiger Barbs

I was out on business monday night / tuesday and forgot to ask Mrs Timmy_Bee to feed my fish... Not the end of the world - it was only a day. But i came back and my green tigers were really dark. Almost black. And my standard tiger was pale. I thought they wanted a bit of grub, so went to feed...

Should I Be Careful With Water Changes In My Newly Cycled Tank?

i do 2 - 3 'buckets' because each one is a good 25 - 30 litres, so 3 would be ~50% change (my bogwood is still releasing lots of tannins so i do ~50% weekly to keep the water clear) I looked into a DIY Python, but forgot about it when i got my flexi-tub. Before that i was using a 10L bucket and...

Should I Be Careful With Water Changes In My Newly Cycled Tank?

stupidly enought, i have been adding the water in buckets (well those 'flexi-tub' things - much bigger than a bucket!) but been too lazy to add the de-chlor until i have added all the new water, then add it directly to the tank I think i'll stop being so lazy...

Getting Started With A Second Hand Tank

its quite normal for fish to feed on tehir dead friends, but never a good sign when its happening in a fish shop! I say never - it could be a one off (sometimes fish just die..) but if it looks like this is the norm (which is often the case in 'chain' LFS's) then i would avoid buying there

    New Tank Problems

Did you cycle the tank? (add ammonia to 'feed' the bacteria and monitor the nitrate/nitrite levels) If not, search for cycling on here (or wait for one of the more experienced memebers to tell you what to do) but short term - i would do a big water change, buy a good water test kit (API Master)...

    New Guy Here

i would assume that so long as you use waterproof, non-toxic paints you should be OK. I think the other thing that would be worth monitoring would be your pH levels. If you have got a water test kit, you could try some tests by putting some clay etc in some water and testing the pH to see if...

    Filters... Any Suggestions?

Hi, I am reading a few good posts about different filters, and it got me thinking. Is my filter good enough? what would be the advantages of an external? I have got a 180L Juwel Rio with aprox. 20 fish, all under 2 inches (at the moment...), none of which are real poop machines. My tank it...

really? i never knew the loaches would get that big... ah. Well unfortunately i didn't read this post. I have gone and got 5 more cherries and they seem to be happier and seem to be eating, albeit not a great deal. Also, my tigers are fine at the mo - they don't seem to be picking or nipping...
