im no cichlid expert, but i would try whatever fish you want. If you acclimatise [sp] the fish properly, over a long enough period (try the drip technique) i would think they would be OK

magnetic algae cleaners are pretty good at getting most off. Personally i would just whack the snails in with her. If she eats them, then you dont need to feed her as much! if she leaves them alone, you solve your algae problem. win-win

you have got an FX5 on a 360L???? isn't that slightly (just a tad....) overkill? i thought they were more for a 360 US G tank...

(sorry if this is a double post - PC playing up) I would not recommend the feeder block things. they usually end in tears. Best solution would be to find anyone who could feed them maybe once or twice? If not, maybe look into the automatic feeders? they are still quite bad, but much better...

Dont know if im too late (dont know what time 'tonight' is where you are) but have you tried using elastic bands to tie the fish bag? much easier - just twist the top a few times, fold it over and wrap some elastic bands round (doubling them up until they are very tight)

well i doubt our test kits are any way near accurate enough. im guessing each test would be off the scale. Unless you could dilute one drop into say 100ml tap water and test that? How many ml in a bottle? how many litres in your tank? if you could work out the same dilution on a tiny scale and...

we could really do with running water tests on the bottle. I wonder whether there would already be levels of NO2, NO3 and NH3 (is that ammonia, i forget)?

would a 405 be overkill? i know over filtering is far better than under, but to save some money i think a 305 (or even the 205) would do the job.

sounds a similar size to my tank (have a look in the 'members tanks' section for some pics) - i ended up getting mainly barbs which (if you are unfamiliar with them) are usually a bit bigger than tetra, but still quite small. these guys then need to be in groups of preferably 6+ per species so...
