Do any LFS's stock Drape Fin Barbs? i got some, but have only seens them in one shop. They are great little barbs (similar size to cherry) If not, i would go with some tetra of some kind. I have recently got some X-ray which are nice, but i really like my Buenos Aires (spelling?) Tetra - but...

I like it! although i personally would avoid the plastic plants. Is it big enough for Malawi? what stocking were you thinking of?

Dont give up on the barbs! they have got to be my favourite fish... Although Odessa are some of the bigger ones, and they really gon't get on well with Angels. Get more green tigers, maybe some checkered and ditch the angels... Thats what i would do anyway...

Have you all read the sticky somewhere on here about that guy in London who built a 1000G tank? i think that was big enough for me...

As EP06 has stated - read up about cycling the tank. But personally i would think of a better solution with the water. If you dont plan on using the water in your home, are you really going to want to do regular water changes by getting your water from a shop?

My 2nd hand Rio 240 was under £150 with all the trimmings (inc some fish) From what i have seen, i would agree ND would be better than Rio first hand, but i think its crazy people spend that much money when they are so cheap 2nd hand... they depreciate [sp] faster than cars!!!

I am looking for a pair of cichlids to be 'centre piece' fish for my tank. I am looking for something that won't grow bigger than 10" and will be hardy enough to live with my Barbs, but nice enough to not warrent a species specific tank. But... more importantly i need some fish that i can buy...

Has anyone used a TV calibration DVD? looking to tweak my TV but don't want to fork out for a proper sensor & software etc, so was looking into the DIY DVDs. One in particular has got good reviews - Digital Video Essentials Has anyone used this or anything like this? was it good?

I have an embarrassing one to add... Last night, whilst tweaking with my new 305 i thought i would check the tubing was properly pushed into the 'aquavalve' (where the tubing meets the canister) so i turned the filter off, set the adjustable flow to minimum and thought 'if i yank the pipe off...

i think the temp ranges stated on sites / books are just a rough guideline. As AT has already displaid, they usually vary between source. So long as you dont go too far from the 'optimum temperature' i think you will be fine. I would also agree with Carlovel1 and have bigger schools and less...

have you seen the one about a ninja stealth kitten? cant remember what its called (and don;t have access to youtube at work) but its funny! (involves a kitten who creaps up on their filming owner, but only moves when the owner isnt looking...)

some people use bicarbonate of soda to raise pH during a cycle. Ask Waterdrop about how much to use. Or as you say, do a water change

that looks more fit for purpose. I just used their 95p snap-off stanley knife. Was also good at the initial cutting of the silicon, although not long enough to reach the hard to get ones so used an old carving knife

So long as their not being smashed against the glass, i always think more is better than less... 8 hours? depends on your routine. Having the lights on for less than 4 hours at a time is no help to the plants (im assuming you have live plants - otherwise do whatever you want with the lights)...

maybe more than 15L for the time being, as your flying blind until you get a test kit. The trtra water stuff should be ok. there are two ways to dose - either add the right amount to your bucket when doing a water change (no need to leave it to work) or add it to the tank after you have...
