    Cherry Shrimp - 20 For £10

Do you think you will be looking to sell shrimp for the forseeable future? Havent even set up my tank yet - let alone cycled a filter, but would be interested if all goes to plan...

    1000 Us Gal Project

I love this tank, and its great that you're keeping the thread updated. If it was mine, i think i would go with large catfish over rays - but thats what i like about fish keeping - each unto their own! Am I right in thinking you're not on a water meter? wonder what the weekly cost would be if...

    My Community Tanks

I love what the spot-lights can do. Think it looks much better than strip lighting. But dont you get water everywhere? (evaporation & splash) Also really like your catfish

    Will A Norm Strip Light Bulb Work Replacing A Power-Glo 48" 40W?

Sorry to attempt a highjack here, but you all seem knowledgable about lighting... how easy (read cheap) is it to set up your own light bar? Am thinking about building a 4 ft tank, and i am not sure whether i need to fork out £50+ on "aquatic" lighting, or just get something cheap and make sure...

    Diy Tanks - Marine Plywood?

The problem with GRP is it is as expensive as buying a tank in the first place (combined with glass costs) when you're looking at a 4 or 5 ft tank. Im sure its cheaper on the big boys, but i just dont have the space Am still on the hunt for a broken tank that i can salvage anything from, and i...

So... When Do They Grow A Pair?

In my experience, convicts alway rule the roost. I like my threesome, but they dont half terrorise the whole tank! especailly when guarding eggs (every other week...) I had a JD once, but he got bullied rotten and just refused to fight back...

    Could Someone Recommend A Powerhead

I just got a filthy cheap one, not even sure of the make. got it from Swallow Aquatics for about a tenner, and it does the job. I've never understood how these can cost so much money

    Stand For A Rio 400

Also the glass itself weights a bucket-load... If you do think the two chests could take the weight, i ould recommend a large sheet of plywood at least 10mm thick between the chest and the tank. This shouls disperse the weight a little bit between the two. Its not that hard to build a stand...

    Diy Tanks - Marine Plywood?

Does anyone know what the Hozelock pond liners are made of? i cant find it on the web site. I have read in VikkiAndKev's thread that there is one kind of liner that silicone will not stick to. My plans are changing again. I am now thinking of replacing my 4ft tank instead of getting a 2nd to...

    Big Tank - Big Filter

I am potentially in a similar situation (thinking about a 5x2x2) Firstly im gob smacked the 3ft tall is the same price... make sure the glass is good and thick. would have thought it would need to be 15mm + for that height. But anyway, back to the filter... I just found out Zooplus are doing...

    Diy Tanks - Marine Plywood?

Well i am finding it really hard to get an online quote for a sheet of glass, and i cant really be bothered to pick up the phone just yet (yup - im lazy) But then i was looking at Poseidons Palace, and they will build me a 5 footer for £170 - but thats with 8mm glass (safty factor 2). Is that...

    Diy Tanks - Marine Plywood?

I have been doing some research and am still deciding on VickiAndKev's pond liner idea, or everyone else's epoxy idea. Epoxy would be expensive and i wouldn't really save much cost, so am going to try to find more info about pond liners. V&Ks idea appealed to me, because they lined the sides...

    Diy Tanks - Marine Plywood?

Hey, Its been a long while since i've been on this site, but i think i remember a couple (cant remember their names - i think they were plec breeders?) who built their own tanks out of marine plywood, wil one side made of glass / perspex. Has anyone had experience doing this? realistically, how...

    Wild Green Severum?

agreed, size and pic is needed. Juvi greens look very different to adult. almost convict-like (im going on normal, instead of wild - have never seen them off the internet) Also the banding is often a sign of stress

    Stocking Advice

are you planning on removing 2 if 2 pair up? beucase that might be an idea. Or even get 5 Sevs and wait for a pair. Just be aware that obviously an 'active' pair might result in more fish for you to re-home... I've only had Sev's for a few months, but mine are really growing on me. stunning...

I Lost My Red Devil Today :(

my choice would be a different barb. I have always found tigers a bit boring... I would go with some Golden barbs (or red line torpedo, if you've got the space), but make sure you keep their numbers up and keep an eye on the angels, as they might have a bit of a go. What are your views on...

    My Aquariums And Cichlids.

cant help with the sexing im afraid. but i love your set-ups But on your 240L, what powerhead are you using? and i notice the only surface agitation is from the air coming from the powerhead. Thinking Of Getting Some New Fish

I would recommend barbs as well. I think they are great fish to dither about large cichlids. But you do have to be careful of them being eaten. maybe some fully grown Odessa, Rosy or (my favourite) Gold barbs? andif you do get some, make sure you get at least 7 so they shoal amoungst themselves...

    Rio 180 - Norwich

Yes its still for sale, and comes with all the trimmings. The only thing i would say is that it has been sat dormant for a while, so the gravel looks a bit manky and might want either a very good clean or just replacing. Obviously the bacteria in the filter will also be long gone, but i might be...

Large Empty Tank And Thinking Of Oscars.....

FYI about the barbs: "Adults of Puntius tambraparniei are distinguished from P. filamentosus , P. singhala and P. assimilis by having prominent black markings on body anterior to the anal-fin origin. They differ from P. exclamatio by lacking a horizontally-elongate, tear-shaped black blotch...
