    Aqua Scaping

Hi! I 2nd taking a look on MD fish tanks on YouTube. I am also not very good at scaping tanks but have got better over the years with practice. My general style is to create an island with a piece of Manzanita wood, or something similar and rocks and cover them in epiphyte plants like java...

    Corydoras love

Nice! I've kept 20 something now, but unfortunately have lost a fair few in a house move I got wrong recently. Going to start rebuilding properly next week.

    Corydoras love

Hi, another Cory nut here! What species have you got?
  14. BigBen1989

    Cyanobacteria.

I was daily. I'd stopped as I thought the cycle was done, but seemingly not as ammonia and Nitrite are high again. I'd do daily again now, but I'm heading to America tomorrow. My WC's have been around the 50% mark. From lots of fishless cycles (my preferred method!), I don't think the nitrates...

    white substance around cory's mouth?

This has a little bit of information in the abstract. https://www.scitechnol.com/peer-review/the-reversal-of-selfpoisoning-in-bronze-and-albino-corydoras-qZN9.php?article_id=11302 I found it interesting to see that they have found a way of reversing the damage. I hadn't seen it before. Whether...

    white substance around cory's mouth?

Hey Aad, it is indeed! How are you keeping?

    white substance around cory's mouth?

The toxin is secreted through their pectoral spines when stressed, as DD has said. Catching a scrape from a spine isn't going to cause you any issues. I lost a bag of Sterbai in my recent house move, so I think it's a possible cause. It isn't going to do any harm in a tank due to the toxicity...

    Cyanobacteria.

It's a product by easylife, sold as a "liquid co2". I'd seen in the past that if injected upon algae it kills it, however it appears that it's hair algae it kills. If it worked it would only have been a temporary fix until I can sort out my water issues.

    Cyanobacteria.

Thanks. The tap water here doesn't really show much through the API kit, so less than 10ppm. It's at 40ppm in the tank because of the cycle. I've had higher readings on ammonia and Nitrite today, so it's not as nearly there as I thought. I have a controllable LED light unit that I can adjust so...

    white substance around cory's mouth?

This looks like a secondary infection from a scrape on the gravel. Esha 2000, or something similar would probably help, depending on your other stock. Long term, changing your substrate to sand will prevent this happening. Cheers! Ben

    Cyanobacteria.

Hey guys. I've moved house recently and one of my tanks has ended up in a fish in cycle (I hate this method under normal circumstances). I've lost a number of discus during and after the move, but I'm pretty much there with the cycle. The bit that I don't know how to deal with is...

    Quick Hello

Cory's4U sell them for £5 a go. Would be cheaper even with postage! I guess that's a Maidenhead Aquatics?
  23. BigBen1989

    Quick Hello

Where are you based? That's an insane price for what is effectively a line bred £3 fish in the uk.
  24. BigBen1989

    Quick Hello

That's a good number. They're not difficult to breed if you have soft water.

    Quick Hello

If you have species in large enough numbers of their own kind it's unlikely. The black Schultzei strain will of course be more at risk from any Aeneus types. Different lineages won't cross, I think there are 9 lineages at the moment, I couldn't name each fish in each though ?

    Quick Hello

At the moment I have Sterbai, Similis, Weitzmani, CW010 and CW023. This is my full list, I sold a load a few years back as I was unwell: Aspidoras Paucirodiatus Brochis Splendens C.Septentrionalis C. Napoensis (S) C.Aeneus + albino (S) CW010 (Gold Lasers) (S) CW023 C.Venezuelanus (S) C.Zygatus...

    Quick Hello

Hi everyone. I live in Somerset in the UK and I've been keeping fish since I was about 10. I'm now obsessed with Catfish, mostly Cory's and Whiptails, but I also have a discus tank and a Betta tank. I've kept over 20 different Cory's now and bred a fair few as well. I noticed the catfish area...
