    Water Changes

So most of you think rather than adding what the fish and plants need, its better to add tap water? Tap water in which you most likely have no chemical breakdown of so have zero idea what is in it? I mean who has the levels of nitrate, potassium, iron, nitrogen, phosphorous of their tap water...

correct and that's why I asked. Was curious as to why people do the changes they do. Out of habbit or need

    Water Changes

spot on for me mate. Exactly what I was getting at. Stable water is more important than fresh water in my opinion

    Water Changes

is it though? That was the answer I was expecting. What do you base it being better on? We generally test for 3 things in freshwater, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Now everyone's tap water is different and so are their tanks. 50% per week may be what you have worked out, but it might not be...

tank still running along nicely. Have started some low fert additions as I added some floating moss that required it. Also found some almond leaves at my lfs so I have one in there melting away. He seems like a pretty happy chap :)

Platy staying on bottom of tank

can you advise your water parameters as a starting point. Namely ammonia and nitrite? how big is the tank and what is in it? it could be an illness or something as simple as she is about to have babies.

Just doing some night obsevations. Is it normal for him to almost wedge himself into a plant and sleep? It almost looks like he is using the leaves as a hammock?

    Betta in a Fluval Chi

I have some flourish left over from my last planted tank, it was co2 injected so I didn't fert much. Is it worth getting iron etc supplements?

    Betta in a Fluval Chi

Back from Vegas and the cycle finished. Did a 90% water change and went to look at bettas. I originally went to get a koi but spotted a stunning dumbo I couldn't leave without. He seems quite happy and accepting a variety of foods. So far so good :)

Help With Planning New 75 Gallon.

Welcome :) Before we can really help what is the hardness of your water and the dimensions of the tank? As this can change the suitability for the fish. I don't think any of us can assure you the tank will be fine on the 2nd floor. Only way to know for certain is engage a structural engineer...

    Betta in a Fluval Chi

Thanks for the tip. It is floating in a stocking so removing it isn't a big issue. I am slightly confused. The amount of food I have added has the tank at 2ppm ammonia and nitrites have just started to kick in. How would using ammonia to 1ppm be different?
  31. A

    Betta in a Fluval Chi

thanks. It is fishless using fishfood as a waste source. I didn't think you would do a change but its been ages since I set up a freshwater tank so wanted to check
