    Is vinegar dangerous for fish

In small amounts it won't hurt the fish (the vinegar). Hence the common live food, vinegar eels. BTW good job Collin at doing a post where you don't have to scroll down fifteen times to read it all. :)

    Sick Black Moor

There is another method but I think it would be really hard for a first-time goldfisher (putting him in the freezer without any water in a towel). And besides, it sounds like he's doing a bit better. Good luck! :)

    Discoloration of Hermit Crab Claws

Hi everyone. My purple pincher hermit crabs usually have pale eggshell white tips to their larger claws, but this morning all my crabs had brownish claw tips. They seem to be healthy and they act normal, but this strange coloration has popped up overnight. What's going on? Is it harmful? It has...

    The betta breeding project

So I floated a few clear cups in the male's tanks (I situated another tank for my other male betta to breed). One of the males, Moscow, was really interested, flaring and displaying his tail fins at another royal blue veiltail called Empress. But Persia seems really clueless about what's going...

Possible Ich, please help me identify it!

Possibly. But no matter how tough the skin is, he'll probably get it soon. You can buy liquid or powder itch remedies, and they are available at your LFS or you can order them online. I agree with Collin, you should get your water checked too if you don't know the pH or ammonia, etc. Good luck Sage!

    Shrimp Questions

All those fish will eat baby shrimps and the plecs are known to eat adults sometimes, if you mean dwarf shrimps, the colorful little ones. Bamboo shrimp can be kept with plecos. It depends greatly on the kind of shrimp. You can feed them (supplemental) shrimp pellets. But they do feed mainly on...

    Endler guppy

Hi everyone. I have five guppies, one red tuxedo, one neon blue delta, two gold-tails (one D-tail), a tequila sunrise (passed away but got his genes in a few broods), and a red mosaic/delta. This is their second/third brood. Six of the babies so far are about one or two centimeters long, and are...

    Shrimp fighting? meeting? whats happening?

I would put them back together and see what happens, watching them carefully; but I'm not an expert Collin_T can probably help you. :)
  18. Jessie J.

    what kind of guppy?

They look like mixes. Probably from genes from another fish in the store. Riza, how big is their tank?

    Fiddler crab help!

How big is their tank, and what are their parameters? Does anything else live with the crabs? They are probably eating when you're not looking. If you put in food, is it gone later? Also, how many crabs do you have?

Should I Change My Bettas Tank?

How big is his current tank, and what are the parameters?
  21. Jessie J.

Starting a new tank, need advice

Yes, don't put puffers with other fish; they are toxic and often pick fins of their tankmates. Kuhli loaches should be kept in groups of 8+, or else they will become very stressed. For the plants, try some java moss, java fern, anubias, and banana plants. They are very easy to care for. :) Are...

    The betta breeding project

My smallest female (about one inch long) has reoccurring dark bands over the sides of her body, and sometimes she doesn't. I thought those only appeared when she was in the presence of the male and ready to breed?

    The betta breeding project

Yes, I finally got all of the mosquitofish out; one of the males was especially tricky; he would go and hide in the rocks whenever the lid opened. :) Thanks!

    The betta breeding project

So I should breed my halfmoon female with my veiltail male to help reduce inbreeding? Okay I also had a couple more questions: My girls have some severe fin-picking (tail stumps) from a few mosquitofish that were hiding un-noticed in the rocks. How much time should I give them to recover for...

    The betta breeding project

I just got four female bettas, three veiltail and one halfmoon (Daisy, Queen Shasta, SierraSequoia, & Empress), and now they are settling in before breeding. Only one looks big enough for breeding, the others are a little small. They are all in a 10-gallon which will be the breeding tank. When...

    The betta breeding project

I've been keeping fish since I was six years old- bettas and mosquitofish, wild tadpoles, now guppies, danios, and soon ram cichlids. :)

    38 gallon cycling.

You can take out a gallon of water from the cycling tank, and save it (or dump it) and put in a gallon of water form an established aquarium. This will help it to cycle. But don't swap large amounts of water if you want it to stay the same pH.

    New tank, stocking help pls

What are your parameters? Here's what I think about stocking: 6 endlers would do well. Or ember tetras. What genders? A boy and a girl is unsuitable, one male needs at least 2 or 3. All males or all females will work, but if you're just having one sex in the tank, you might want male guppies...

    Sick or Injured Guppy

Well I only have three shrimp so I don't want to risk it by using them like guinea pigs. But if the medications are generally safe, they'll be fine for me. Thanks! I'll see if I can get some medication tomorrow or the day after.

New Tropical Aquarium (a few questions)

Slowly adjusting the time you feed your fish shouldn't mess them up. Guppies are very sensitive to overfeeding and can even die from it; feeding blocks with guppies is not a good idea in my experience. The day you leave, if you are only going to be gone for about 5 days or less, feed the guppies...

Koi is currently spinning in circles

If it's a curved spine and he can't eat, the best option is probably to euthanize. But if there is a way he can be saved (I'm unaware of this but someone else may know if you can fix it), put your hand in the tank with a pellet and hold it right in front of his face so he has a chance at eating...

    Sick or Injured Guppy

Okay. Is it safe for invertebrates? I have dwarf shrimp and Mystery snails in their tank. I paid ten bucks each for my cherry shrimp, would hate to lose em'. :p
