Weird blue crayfish + strange patterns

Hi everyone. My pond flooded today and got some rainwater/pond water from other places washed into it. Every year weird things wash into it (the year before last it was a huge red fish, then thousands of newts, now this). I found a crayfish struggling against the current. It is exactly the same...

    Best food to feed guppies?

They should be fed small amounts of flake food once or twice a day, and maybe a few bloodworms up to three times a week. Make sure that their bellies don't get excessively large after feeding; if so thin out the feedings and put them farther apart, and don't feed that much. Good luck!

    55-gallon build

I just found out that it's leaking (luckily before it was brought inside). I am going to seal it up next week, so the project is postponed.

    Leaking tank

What tools would I need? I don't mind time-consuming work to get it fixed, it's a pretty big tank and fixing it might be cheaper. Thanks everyone!

    Leaking tank

HI everyone; sorry if this is in the wrong section. My 55-gallon tank is leaking because of a crack in the trim. It's made is tempered glass and is waterproof everywhere else. Thank you!

    55-gallon build

HI everyone! In the next few days I am going to be setting up a 55-gallon aquarium for my mollies, guppies, bettas, and other fish. Tomorrow I am going to check and make sure it holds water, then I am going to start setting it up; so it should be done sometime this month.

    Hermit crabs acting strange

Their enclosure has both freshwater and saltwater, and I have some red lettuce I can feed them. What do you think caused this?

    Hermit crabs acting strange

Yesterday night I saw my hermit crab standing alone without her hell. I eventually coaxed her back in but she's still very weak. Any tips? I separated her from the other crabs, with a clear divider, because another crab was picking on her. Thanks!

    Pregnant platy.. Confused fish owner

Welcome to the forum! Can you post a picture of her? Try feeding a little less. Pregnant platies will have a wide, box-shaped belly, and if you slim down on feedings, it will be easier to tell.

    Biorb/Betta vacation options

Be careful when bulking up your fish before a vacation; bettas are sensitive to overfeeding.

    2 Dead Shrimp (10g)

Can you post a picture of the tank? Shrimp are stressed easily, and in addition to being stressed from their move to a new tank, the bright lights may be causing them even more stress. Try dimming it if you can or put some floating plants on the surface to help.

    2 Dead Shrimp (10g)

If it has copper in it, that's probably the problem. All invertebrates are sensitive to heavy metals, but above all copper. You should relocate the remaining shrimp as soon as possible, because once copper/heavy metals are added to the tank it can take a while to get them out. Sorry about your...

    2 Dead Shrimp (10g)

If you dose your planted tank with c02, that may be the problem; shrimp are highly sensitive to high levels of it. At night the plants do not absorb very much c02, and there is an immense quantity until the plants can photosynthesize to aid in the process of absorbing it.

Please help me figure out my lighting, ferts and CO2!

Here's some plants you might want to try that will do well with the pH and temperature: Red ludwigia African onion plant Banana plant Madagascar lace plant (I love this plant and have a little farm going; you will need a good filter to prevent particles from becoming stuck in the leaves) Java...

Please help me figure out my lighting, ferts and CO2!

Most plants do well with a tropical temperature and a lot do well with that pH, so you will have some nice choices. :) What fish are you planning on getting? Larger fish will eat some kinds of plants. For a planted tank I would recommend some otocinclus, plecos, maybe shrimp if you are careful...

    Returning to the Fish World

I would go for a planted freshwater bowfront, as that would probably look better than a hex. A reef tank would look good but I don't think there would be enough room for many saltwater fish. Good luck, and keep us posted on your project!

Have you ever had any fishkeeping-related dreams?

When my pets are sick or if I'm worried about them, I often have nightmares. I also have mysterious re-occurring dreams about finding preserved fish and them coming back to life; possibly it's a sign that I will make a discovery about something important (like how fish are important to me) that...

Pregnant Platy - if/when can I put her separate

There are two basic methods; leave her in the tank and when she passes the fry, scoop out the babies before she eats them. The second method is to put her in a breeder box (not a fry box) when she is about to give birth. I would recommend putting in a divider and adding lots of live plants; the...

    Sherbert Delights

HI everyone. Most of us love the tangy-sweet taste of Sherbert ice cream; but I have found an all-new (and delicious!) way to make it even better. I first heard of this recipe is from my grandparents. Thaw the ice cream in the fridge so it's soft. Pour in a soda (ginger ale or Mountain Dew...

    Hi again

I agree, cories should have at least five friends or they get stressed; with plenty of hiding places he should be okay till you can get some more. I love your fish names! I named my mollies (similar in appearance and build to platies) Firey, Ozark Moonshine (R.I.P Ozark Sunshine), Dallas...

    Goodbye

Bye Nick. It'll be sad to see you go, and remember that anything I have said ("That's inappropriate") is not because I dislike you- I just want you to be a little more thoughtful of others. You helped a lot of people in the time you were here and I understand if you don't want to reconsider.

Where are all these baby guppies coming from? and platy question

Some guppy fry will get eaten so you will see an abundance that later thins out. You can expect fry every 30-40 days with most guppies. Platies and guppies will be fine together, but both will eat each other's fry so put in lots of plant masses/floating plants. A general rule is at least two...

How many friends do I need to get for my lonely Cory?

Yes, they will get stressed with only one and should have at least six other cory friends. Introduce two or three at a time if your tank is new.

Fungus, fin rot, or something else?

HI everyone. I noticed just today that my betta has been hiding a lot lately, and that half of his body is whitish/several shades lighter than the rest of his body, and that his fins are thin and ragged-looking. All parameters are fine, and I was suspecting fin rot, but does anyone know what the...
