I have just finished watching a documentary called 'Seaspiracy' on Netflix. I highly recommend every one to watch it. A fairly strong stomach is required! It's a highly educational and thought provoking documentary. For those that have seen it, will fish be on your shopping list in the future?

That's really useful to know. I have a couple of caves in the tank already, but the entrance is fairly wide compared to the size of the Peacocks. So I may need to look at getting some PVC pipes or smaller caves. Will the Peacocks eat their own fry?

Ok, that's great. I fully understand now. Yes, I was planning on leaving the QT running all the time. It will be heavily planted like the main tank. I guess over time, once the main tank is stocked that I will close it down and then just use the main tanks media if I need to set it up again...

That makes complete sense. But then surely any nasty bugs will then be in the main tank, even after quarantine no? That's assuming these bugs that we treat the new fish for, don't exclusively live in/on the fish themselves. So many questions haha!

Sorry, I think I'm a little confused. Should I be using the filter media that's in my main tank, in the quarantine tank as well? I hadn't planned on moving the filter media between tanks. I meant specifically the filter media within the quarantine tank, will this need replacing each time I buy...

Sorry folk, one more question regarding quarantine. As I'm putting medication in the tank, will I have to clean out the tank and filter after the temporary hosts have moved into the main tank?

I completely forgot to mention that I picked up my quarantine tank yesterday. It is the Superfish Start 25 litre aquarium. There's not much to show. It has the same substrate as the main tank plus a few plants and floating plants. The medication is on order, so thanks for the recommendation...

I am yet to own a fish. However, once the current tank is cycled it looks increasingly likely that my first fish will be a pair of Least Killifish. After someones raving review about them on here, I was sold!

It's just more biofilm. It's covered my driftwood and now it's on the surface of the water. I guess it's just all the bacteria growing in such a new tank.
