    Rehousing fish

fish stores probably will not take them, if they do, they won't give you anything for them, fish that size are simply too hard to sell, and will end up taking up tank space at the store forever, i would list them on kijiji, you would be lucky if you were able to give them away....they get a lot...

    Are these Angelfish eggs?

all 3 of them COULD BE female, its actually not uncommon for 2 female angelfish to "mate", the eggs will just be unfertilized and die, but the females will still protect them the same way they normally would with a male, in my experience breeding angelfish, if the breeding pair are not in...

    Are these Angelfish eggs?

can't really say when you have no pictures, but it sounds like angelfish have laid eggs, angelfish normally lay eggs on a vertical surface like that, i have bred angelfish for many years, and its not uncommon for them to lay eggs on filter inlet tubes, or sometimes even on vertical heaters...

agreed on the sponge filter..... i use these in my breeding / grow out tanks..... https://www.bigalspets.com/seapora-breeder-sponge-filters.html?sku=4461 they come in different sizes depending on your tank size....they are very effective, cheap, and they literally last forever....i have some...

How often water change 70ltr tank?

oddly enough, and ironically.....generally speaking, getting advice from a fish store is a poor idea, most of the people working there only know how to scoop and bag fish, and clean the tanks, and were probably flipping burgers, or selling car stereos last week

How often water change 70ltr tank?

there are no set cut and dry guidlines when it comes to water changes, too many different variables come into play, type of food, how much food, filtration, fish stocking, types of fish, how you maintain the tank, etc etc, having said that, from the tank you describe, IMO every other day is way...

Automatic water change system for discus breeding set up

I have bred angelfish and discus.....the most i ever changed on my grow out tanks was 50%-60% per day, but i have never used a drip system, my breeding/growout tanks are all bare bottom tanks with sponge air powered filters..... i have had about 200 babies or more in a 35 gallon tank till they...

Automatic water change system for discus breeding set up

thats the nice thing about a drip system, you can change the speed of it whenever you want to make it faster or slower....lets take a 50 gallon tank as an example, if you want to change 100% of the water every day, then you set the drip to drip in about 2 gallons every hour....so in 24 hours it...

    How much food to feed?

there is no right or wrong, written in stone rule....as you can see right here, its all a matter of personal opinion, fishkeeping is a constant learning process, experiment and find out what works best.....every tank is different, i would feed tetramin OR omega one flakes as a regular staple...

    How much food to feed?

i have bred and raised literally 10's of thousands of fish in my time......i have used both tetramin and omega one....in my opinion they are pretty much equal in quality....i never noticed any difference in raising my fish while feeding one or the other
  13. mikey11

    How much food to feed?

most shops will always say to feed less.....thats because most beginners tend to over feed/ put far too much food in....i find less food more frequently is best for smaller fish like yours
  14. mikey11

    How much food to feed?

sorry i wasnt reading properly.....i wouldn't even use or recommend the pellets for your fish their main diet should be a good quality flake food....like this.... http://www.tetra-fish.com/products/nutrition/tetramin-tropical-flakes.aspx feed that once or twice a day....everything else is...

    How much food to feed?

Covering tank no benefit if in sunlight is this true?

what type of light are you using on the tank? how many hours a day is it on? can you take pictures of the algae growth? it's possible the sun has nothing to do with it
  21. mikey11

Covering tank no benefit if in sunlight is this true?

can you not just cover the window where the direct light is coming from?.....that way the room will still be somewhat lit up, without the direct sunlight hitting the tank
  22. mikey11

Covering tank no benefit if in sunlight is this true?

it depends if the sunlight is directly on the tank or not....if it is, that will promote algae growth....if your just talking about sunlight generally lighting up the room, then its not an issue

    Discus in a Trigon 190

don't worry about breeding.....they are difficult to breed unless conditions are perfect.....and you are also very unlikely to get a breeding pair if your only buying 4 or 5.....so chances are they won't be breeding in your tank.....and even if they do they will probably eat the eggs anyway...
