Howdy y'all,
I have a planted tank that I've had running for about a year now... the roots of my jungle val and tiger lotus have been going crazy the last few months though and are popping up through the substrate all over the place. Especially the tiger lotus. I have a bag of used fluval...
Thanks! I unfortunately already trimmed them as I was worried about them getting bigger and blocking the light for my other foliage. If there are more I might leave them 😁
Some of you might remember my planted 30gal that I've been working on this year, it's going great! Been having great luck with my tiger lotus, jungle val, and anubis so far.
However my tiger lotus has gone bonkers and I'm wondering if it's time for a trim? If so, any tips?
Pardon the low water...
Howdy!
I'm looking to make things easier on myself by consolidating my 10 gallon and 30 gallon tanks, adding the fish from my 10 into my 30 and just using the 10 for plants. Currently the 10 houses 6 porkchop rasboras. I plan on getting 4 more when I transfer them.
The 30 gallon currently...
Thanks you!! Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery as they say. I can't wait to see what you do! I was digging through bins of wood at my local FS for probably 40 minutes before I found the right piece haha
Thanks for the excellent info! The only reason I've thought about keeping the bronze bully cory solo is that that's how it was for years lol I think it made friends with my previous betta in the 10 gallon because they would always hang out together. The two of them lived in the 10 for 5 years...
Questions regarding my two tanks, my 10 gallon and 30 gallon. I pictured my 30 gallon... I'm working on both. Sorry it's a lot!
1) Can cory cats and oto cats live together? I have two young panda corys and an old bronze cory cat in my 10 gallon, the old cory is kind of a fat bully who muscles...
I've never seen these before... are they algae? A worm if some kind? They look like tiny green anemones in my planted 30gal. The only occupants atm are 4 oto cats.
I scrubbed them off the sides of the tank my snails are avoiding them like the devil, physically rearing to avoid them...
Good to know! I went ahead and actually started with Otos (bit daring I know) but so far they seem quite happy. In two weeks or so I'll probably add the barbs, then in maybe a month I'll add the gouramis.
I've got these funny little fellows in my 10gal... I thought for a while they were baby snails as my big pond snail Frankie has been laying like crazy but they don't seen to get any bigger... They look more like barnacles than anything else. Any ideas? The last picture you can see an ACTUAL baby...
Great question... So I used the API 5in1 test strips. You're 100% right though it might be even harder than 180...
@Willis
Your point is why I'm concerned... the fish might be OK in the water, but I'd rather not loose them early due to being not in their natural parameters. I should checked...
I find the lofi music to chill to on youtube is great because it's always on, and the visuals are soothing.
Listening to that and working on a small project (painting, quilting, etc) helps me chill after taking care of my baby all day.
I'm so sorry you and your wife are going through so much ❤️
Howdy!
I live in central Texas which means LOTS of limestone, aka extremely hard water. I've been using soft store bought water for water changes to try and augment this to bring it down to a more moderate GH but so far I've only gotten it from 180ppm to around 150ppm... the tank finished...
Good morning/afternoon/evening!
I'm looking for some ideas for bushy dark purple foreground plants for my planted tank. The picture is a little cloudy because I had just planted the others, but I want to put some red/black lava rocks and something dark and lush in front of the red lava rocks...
The water was neutral yesterday when I tested before planting, but I'm guessing it will soften up with all the flora.
I guess considering where they occupy the tank that many would do alright together! PG on the surface, barbs central, and loaches on the bottom.
I don't really have a...
I'll have to check bucephalandra out! I haven't heard of that one. But yes some deeper greens or purples would help everything blend a little more. It's a bit stark right now haha
That's interesting about the ruby barbs, maybe...
Pair of Pearl Gouramis
8 Ruby Barbs
3-4 Loaches?
I'm going to...
I was thinking of ways to tie in the red lava rocks more, I like your idea! I'm probably going back to the shop to look for more rocks soon. The wall behind the tank is dark green so I was trying to get some contrast going.
I'm hoping to eventually get some pearl grass carpeting in the front as...
