If you're going to use floss in a FX4 it should be in the last media tray that the water flows through before it's returned to the tank. Otherwise the filter is going to need a lot of service. If the 4 is configured the same way as the FX6, this approach will clean the slightly cloudy look from...

This is a great day for filtration in my house. A new filter I put in-line about 8 weeks ago is now fully active biologically. There's no hint of bacterial bloom and all parameter's are dark green. I sincerely hope that things are going as well for you guys.

I used ozone on my one and only marine tank about 20-years ago. It worked just fine for removing gunk from the water but it irritated my dogs eye's no end. The stuff my fractionator pulled from the water was awful to clean too. So the whole contraption went the way of the dodo.

Do in-lines have any special requirements as far as maintenance? Not that i can change heater mountings right now, but there's something elegant about mounting it in my cabinet.

As long as the media is compatible you'll be fine swapping it into your 107. Be patient, test regularly during the process and things will work out great. If things happen to go south be prepared for water changes. The more I learn about aquarium planting the more complex it seems.

Being that fish keeping is a hobby, some people need to believe that there's one way to do things, their way. From how any filters are used to the mats you stuff them with. It can be one argument after another. If this seems weird, look up some commentary on building and using gaming PC's.

A LFS keeps 4 large black Piranha in a 500G tank. They're mostly black with red eyes and a few shiney scales like pacu. Just to make it spookier the tank has reduced lighting and has a sign saying "Don't tap the class or put you hand in." It's as close to a horror movie as you can get without CGI.

Depending on load, of course, you shouldn't have an issue migrating to your 107 alone. Be sure to monitor your water until you're confident your BIO filter is up to the challenge. Be prepared to change some water if need be. Please post a pic when possible.
