African Cichlid Sitting A The Bottom of The Tank

If I remember correctly, mollies need hard water and cichlids need even higher pH.

    Possibly ill bronze cory

What kind of fish flakes do you have? Doubt it as fish flakes have very little protein.

    Stocking Tank

Live bearers will breed no matter how crowded or small the tank is. For a beginner 5-6 in a 10 gallon is just ridiculous as you are asking for trouble. Mollies get 4-6 inches each depending on the type which means you are already pushing. Mollies produce the most waste out of all the live bearers.

    Stocking Tank

@Colin_T not 5 to 6 platies. That is way over stocked! A filter for a 10 gallon can only have so much BB.
  6. Sarah73

    Stocking Tank

Aqadvisor is rubbish. Don't use it. And platies have heavy bio load. Three of them would be overstocked as they get 2-3 inches. I would take the female back.

    Sand maintenance

I use my siphon easily without sucking up a lot of sand. As I have many corydoras, so I'm not new to cleaning the sand (once a week). You can also just get some panty hose from Wal-Mart or something, get a rubber band, and wrap the panty hose around the intake while the rubber band is holding...

Is this stocking correct for a 1.5 gallon tank?

You realize that your beta is in too small of a tank?
  9. Sarah73

    Stocking Tank

You are already overstocked sadly. Having three platies in a 10 gallon is way over stocked. They produce a lot of waste for live bearers.

    What are you?

    I'm a person & experienced Aquarist.

    Possibly ill bronze cory

Ok I see the problrm. Algae wafers have no value to corydoras. They are meat eaters. His system started to get weak because he wasn't being fed the proper diet which caused him to be more prone to diseases. Go get your corydoras some shrimp pellets, blood worms, and brine shrimp.

African Cichlid Sitting A The Bottom of The Tank

Nitrites and ammonia doesn't go away within a few hours like that... they likely suffered from ammonia poisoning.

New To Fish. Not To Keeping Difficult Specimen.

Piranhas really need to be in a bigger group to feel safe. Wouldn't recommend this to someone who is just starting in the fish hobby. OP I know you aren't new to "animals" but fish are very different. Like I've been around dogs and cats(bred to) my whole life but keeping fish is something that...

    Possibly ill bronze cory

Yup, when dirt gathers in sand that can cause a bacterial infection. Clean it up asap. What are you feeding them? The barbels will grow up quickly with clean water. And @Colin_T What do you mean by clean? Lile clean the filter pads completely?
  15. Sarah73

    Possibly ill bronze cory

Also red blotch disease has symptoms like selling in one eye or both.
  16. Sarah73

    Possibly ill bronze cory

Is there just a red spot? If so that is red blotch disease.
  17. Sarah73

    Possibly ill bronze cory

When corydoras lose barbels it's because either the gravel is too sharp or dirty gravel. As for the red thing on the eye, that's caused by a bacterial infection.

Betta fish just died, what could've been the cause of death (info inside)?

Aqadvisor is rubbish. Don't ever use it.

    Really? Grrr sorry.
  20. Sarah73

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

You can naturally lower the pH by adding almond leaves, driftwood, or coral. Angels like acidic, but not too acidic if you are going to add other fish.

Betta fish just died, what could've been the cause of death (info inside)?

My question is what do you mean by good water parameters? That is a long time in captivity, so likely died of old age. As for your stocking it's not the greatest, but if you want to talk about that then we can.

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

I will tell you that I've kept my cardinals with angels from a dime size to full grown with no issues. What is your GH hardness? As for pH angles like the lower range of pH. 6.8 is a good point.

Not going to argue with you.

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

I had four Males that were perfectly fine together until I added a female. That's when the fighting started.
  25. Sarah73

How close is my platy to dropping?

Make sure the new tank is cycled before adding the babies as they will be very sensitive.

Help with stocking tank/ Questions about a few fish!

I suggest to remove two of the clowns plecos. What are you feeding yours? Or are you not feeding them? I don't know how you feed three clowns properly without creating a lot of waste. I have three bristle nose plecos and they process lots of waste!
  27. Sarah73

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

What you said about two male angels isn't true. When you have two male angels they will either get along or not get along. But if you bring a female into the mix then they will start to fight.
  28. Sarah73

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

Cardinal tetras are bigger than neons. Neons need cooler water while cardinals need warmer like angels. I didn't mean to get two adults. Add two junvilenes and let them grow up together. I had an adult male, putting a female with him made him territorial, so even having a pair and a lone angel...

Yes I knew that. Was just testing you :)

    Betta in alcohol bottle?

You put fish back into a lake? It's illegal to release fish that aren't already in that lake. You realize that right?

Ok how does this sound? A pair of angels 8-12 albino corydoras 10-12 cardinal tetras 1 bristlenose pleco

    Stocking Ideas For 55 gallon

Two DG is a dangerous thing as they are likely both males. Stores don't usually buy females as they aren't as common or colorful as the males. Two males together will equal fighting. I know this myself. I would suggest removing the rainbow shark as they get aggressive as they age. They will...

New Dwarf Male Gourimi not swimming right

No. Corydoras shoal with their own species. They can shoal with other species, but it isn't preferred. You don't have enough room to add another 6 corydoras.
  35. Sarah73

New Dwarf Male Gourimi not swimming right

If you upgraded to a 30 gallon, you could add an angel, but I don't know if you want to do that. Corydoras love to be in big groups. I have around 12 albinos in my 60 gallon and they are always swimming together. No kribensis, no keyholes, no pearl lip gourami, etc. You are very limited when...

    Golden sucker loach

That is a Chinese algae eater. Get rid of it as soon as you can. They are mean suckers and will attack your fish. Did you just notice those red spots or have they been on there since you got him? I see a DG, yoyo loach, lots of molly babies, etc. Your male looks bloated by the way. I would...

New Dwarf Male Gourimi not swimming right

what kind of centerpiece are you looking for? I would also add one or two more corydoras. I was going to say maybe an angel, but a 20 tall isn't a good idea. so, no angel.
