Don't bamboo shrimp grow to about 3 inch? My paradise fish is only a little above 2 inch. I did a bit of research on the whiptail catfish but most site recommend at least a 15-20 gallon..

Paradise fish are anabantoid, they are more like a gourami. That's a good idea for the name, they are from Asia

Mine is only a little agressive with the female but it was expected, he doesn't bother the rasboras so I think one died of something else. I hope my pearl gourami won't turn agressive overtime like your's did

Only a Betta would be better for that tank size

I think 3.3 gallon is only the minimum for a betta, neon tetra would need a bigger tank sadly. Betta are also tricky with tank mates, sometimes it goes perfectly and sometimes it goes horrible so I would say the best would be just to keep one betta in this tank
