Hi there I have (I believe to be) a blue velvet shrimp. He’s lost his colour and has white spots on his feet. All parameters are normal. This is as good a picture as I can get. Any ideas as to what is happening with him?

As said above a few times, 5 gallons is too small for corys. I keep corys and a betta in a tank in my room and nothing bad has happened between them. Maybe if you had a 15 gallon you could do the betta and panda corys. Amano shrimp are a good tankmate for a betta.

That's annoying. I might try and persuade my mum to get a 20 gallon as a breeder. Just not too many places to put one though.

The danios would probably end up in my 33g lol. They do need quite a big swimming space, and we bought them way before I came on the forum where we had no idea what fish can go in what tanks.

Yeah this is what's happening. Does this mean that the dominant male will pr off with one of the females. The ratio of the rainbows is 4 males to 2 females.

They can get to around 6-7cm. Some of them might get rather round but this is ok and shouldn't represent any illness.

I think imo you should keep the harlequins in the 55. They are established there and it might be the case that you lose that personality if you move them. The silvertips would do fine in the 29.

Hmmmm, sorry that didn't work out for you. I would suggest some dwarf neon rainbows but your GH isn't high enough for them. I think if you want fish with personality and fish you already have, have got personality, go with them because you will know that they have what you want. I do agree with...

They might just need a bit of time to settle in. It's typical of most fish that they don't eat on the first day because they just need to adjust to their surroundings. In the next day or two they should be out and around the upper areas of the tank and eating.

Guppys are hard water fish. They like 250ppm plus which I'm assuming you have. The mollys platys and guppys hould be ok but monitor the behaviours and make sure nothing bad happens

Have you thought of blue acaras? They are usually quite peaceful but will defend their fry by chasing away inspecting fish.

Just asking, but are all of your water parameters suited for discus? They like very soft water and a pH of around 6.3 I believe.

Have you checked your water is suitable for the guppys? They like a ppm of over 250ppm to be happy. Just chekc on your water company website if you aren't sure on what it is.

I agree with you @mcordelia. Probably 6 sterbais is good and I think I was wrong suggesting 15 cardinals. 10-12 is a better number.

This is a good start. Could probs increase cardinals to 15 maybe and 10 sterbais.
