How to make food into smaller pieces.

Thanks for the advice, had thought of pestle and mortar but wanted to make sure.

How to make food into smaller pieces.

I just purchased a new tub of Fluval bug bites, and the food is slightly too big for my pearl danios to be eating. How can I make the food smaller, but not too small so that it doesn't dissolve straight away? I have tried crushing them in between my fingers, but they are very hard and difficult...

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

The other 3 corys are eating which the 3 dead ones werent. I need a bit of advice on what to feed my ottos. I am fully aware they enjoy veg, so perhaps a little piece of cucumber. They have eaten the majority of the algae present. There is only 3 and I am planning on increasing that number to 7...

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

The temperature ranges between 23-24 degrees Celsius (73-75 Fahrenheit) but the fish that are acting up are remarkably thin and are not eating at all. I can do a water change today. It’s interesting that it is just the corys that are affected by this, as my cherry barbs and danios are completely...

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Ok thank you very much, I'm assuming it was the cory "pellets" I gave them, and I don't recall feeding them bloodworm since I have got them. I will feed them some peas.

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Ok, update for you all, lost 2 corys and another is on deaths door, he’s doing the same as the other two, lying on his side and can barely swim. I remembered I got them from a good shop but there was a dead (or dying) cory on its side so I suspect I picked up whatever the dead one had when I got...

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

I made the mistake a few months back of cleaning the filter under tap water, (I know, stupid) but yes I cleaned the filter yesterday with water from the tank. I should get some frozen daphnia, hopefully they will enjoy it.

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Yeah I rarely feed them bloodworm (once every 3-4 weeks) but I have never fed my fish brineshrimp or daphnia so wondering how they would feel with that. Will post test results and a pic of the cory soon. Ev

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Yeah I will stop feeding them that then, I only have the test strips not the test tube ones unfortunately. I have frozen bloodworm at the moment, should I feed them that?

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Hey Byron, I did actually have the Fluval Bug Bites, but ran out, will definitely pick some up. I do water changes once every week, sometimes once every 9-10 days, doing a 55-60% change, and I use the Tetra conditioner that makes tap water safe for fish. I've only ever added Tetra "PlantMin"...

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

They are currently being fed flake, "Catfish pellets" and Shrimp Wafers, I can try and post a picture soon. All the cory's have been completely fine with that food though, so I'm not sure what it is.

Cory laying on one side, not sure what to do.

Hey all, one of my pepper Corydoras has been lying on his side recently, and he doesn't move very much if at all. Just did a 55-60% change as I noticed the nitrite levels were a little high, and ammonia was a little high. All 4 other cory's are fine (I plan to get 4-5 more) and are very active...

    Opinions on the following fish…

An arrowana would get way too big for a 500 litre tank. They need at least a 350gallon tank. Edit: additionally the arrow would eat anything under 4 inches if it’s 8’ at the least.

Why do people do this??? :(

The problem is is that many people will see this tank and think “oh, I could have guppies in here” but they can’t. Perhaps endlers but even then they wouldn’t thrive. Additionally since no lfs helps advise them on stocking their tank, they probably think that they could put 2 clown loaches in a...

Why do people do this??? :(

The problem is is that they probably went there and were like “look at that one! Can I get that one and that one?” Whereas my lfs would ask how big the tank was and then he would say what would fit in into it. At least there weren’t 2 male bettas in it. Of course guppies and mollies need a 20...

I have no doubt that they bought the fish from pets at home or something. Poor fishies.

Why do people do this??? :(

Yesterday I was outside my bus stop waiting for the bus home, and I noticed in a beauty salon looking thing, a small cube tank like rotated on its axis. It looked like this ->. I then noticed what I thought was a betta, but it was actually a female guppy; alone. There was one tiny plastic plant...

    4ft Tank Stocking

Ideally we would want to know your GH; which can be obtained through your water companies website. I completely agree with Colin here, a bit too many fish in a 4ft, plus the plants would decrease the amount of swimming room so you would really only have about 3ft depending on where you are...

I’ve only just started college at 16. In the UK, we finish school at 16 and then either go on to college or university. @DragonScales+Doubletails, please do stick around this forum is great and there will definitely be people here who are experienced with keeping reptiles and insects.

    New fish! Whoops, impulse buy...!

Awesome, yeah my GH comes out at around 290ppm :/ unfortunately, might need to start with RO since I really want corydoras and diamond rummynoses. If I can't lower it I will go for dwarf neon rainbowfish, have had them before but only in a group of 6, so might go up to 8 or 10 perhaps. I went to...

Those Venezuelan Corydora are absolutely stunning, hope they maintain that colour. Could I ask what your GH is @AdoraBelle Dearheart? I want to live somewhere where I am able to access soft water and also be able to visit RSPB places and nature reserves with my camera.

Yes we got 5 plants but the large ones were able to split into 5 or 6, so i added around 16 new plants to the tank. Will do a test for ammonia and nitrate + nitrite soon, things are looking good though.

It was called SafeStart. Fish are doing fine and have done water changes, getting some more plants as the tank is very open still, and I do want to plant it nicely to make the fish feel more comfortable.

Thankfully, we have got it under control, added some product to overcome the ammonia, did a 50% water change and will do one tomorrow. We were told to add fish with this product called SafeStart, which has worked in the past, so we got 7 pearl danios to go with the one that is still around. They...

Well… just returned back from holiday, and I find all but one of my fish dead.. only the danio is alive. Going to remove dead fish and the food that was left and then test the water. No idea what happened but think there was too much food in the water or there was not enough beneficial bacteria...

How much RO needed to be able to reduce GH?

Hey all, I’ve been thinking about using RO water in my 29 gallon tank to help soften my GH so I’m able to have fish such as corys and tetras and so on. Now my question is, how much RO water is needed to bring down my GH. Currently my GH is at 290ppm, meaning I can only really have rainbowfish...

A little late to this thread but I’ve been getting into bird photography recently. I have a Canon EOS 7d mark II with Canon EF 100-400 IS II USM lens. Ok so tank is all set up, fish appear to be doing well in it. Not quite got the amount of plants I want just yet, have some ideas in mind, I will post a picture of the tank later. Hey Wills good to see you again as well. The rummynose rasboras look very cool, not sure on where I could get them as I haven’t noticed them in either of the stores I usually go to. We aren’t keen on ordering them online though. I will move the tetras, and I was wrong about having any corydoras...
