    Forrest scape.

Voila,at last some progress.I glued the logs down with some sawdust and glue mix and it’s like concrete, allowing me to remove the screws and cable ties. Wether or not it will look like a Forrest scape i doubt, but it will look like ancient prehistoric woodland haha. That will do for me.

Well what’s a project without some hiccups along the way.woke up this morning and the cat thought it was a good idea to have a game of log dominos.Ever glued piece of wood was toppled,ha! This was a big set back, but(and there’s always a but)I’ve came up with a simple idea to hold the wood that...

What I thought would be a leisurely build has now became a rush thanks to me having to get the new tank set up for Sunday.I’ve managed to get the wood done now,as it kept falling over.i need to place the fallen tree and then I can go about filling in all the gaps with a glue and sawdust mix...

So the tank arrived today completely unexpected,so much for best laid plans. Not to worry,as I’d rather have it in my possession. One sheet of flimsy acrylic and a tube of silicone. Now I can move on with the build.

Switching tanks will have to be done quickly,so I’ve been thinking of getting a sheet of acrylic to build the scape on and that way it’s a simple case of dropping it into the new tank. There is a local diy store near me that sell sheets of acrylic. The tank is 140cm long by 60cm wide and the sheet...

I have a new tank being delivered in the next month or two, schedule depending on the covid situation, and with a new tank comes a new scaping project. This tank is almost exactly the same as my current 109g,difference being the new tank has opti-white glass.Wether I notice any difference in...

    Pine wood

Your right about the depth illusion Gary, with the smaller sticks to the back. The same thing could be achieved by putting smaller plants to the back and I’ve often wondered why they always say big plants at the back.Obviously bigger at the front would block the view, but not if well trimmed. So I...

    Pine wood

Hahaha,or a private jet. Ok I’m seriously thinking of beech as there’s plenty over here.Pity chestnut isn’t good,as they are very common. I was thinking of branches about 4-5 inches thick. There’s a scape on utube that is close to the look I’m thinking of.I will see if I can load it up. Cheers...

Cheers Arthur.I know, pine is risky, but oak is too twisty and I need the wood to be straight. I will keep looking.

    Pine wood

I have a new tank coming within the next Couple of months and I was thinking of a Forrest scape.I’m refusing to buy driftwood as it’s far too expensive.I was planning on placing pine wood vertically,to watch the fish weaving in and out as they swim along. We have oak,pine,beech,chestnut,among...

    Anubias roots

I think it’s anubias barterii.I’ve just never seen roots growing above the rhizome, but if it happens then fair enough.

Is there a parasite that can cause these wounds?

Thanks for the reply Rocky. The tank is a 109g. Params are ok,ph 6,0 ammonia,0 nitrite,15-20 nitrates and been running for 15 months. As far as other occupants go,I don’t think there’s anything in the tank that could inflict such an injury. It’s the pinhole in his dorsal that was smaller a...

Is there a parasite that can cause these wounds?

I posted a photo of the pinhole that is in my rainbow sharks dorsal fin a couple of weeks ago which has now got slightly bigger, but he has a much worse wound just behind his anal fin.The wound is almost a perfect half moon shape, but I haven’t a clue how it happened. He also has a white mark on...

    Anubias roots

A friend of mine has an anubias plant and there are roots growing off near the top of the plant.I’ve never seen this before and always thought the roots grew from the rhizome. Is this how the plant propagates?

    Pinhole in fin

I noticed the rainbow shark has a perfectly round pinhole in his dorsal fin.The photos not the best but the hole is clearly visible. Could be damage from decor, but wanting to make sure it’s not the beginning of something more sinister,as he has been through a rough patch with a flesh wound recently.

    Is this spawning behaviour?

Agreed. My corys spawn after water changes when refilling with cooler water. They prefer to lay eggs on the glass, just below the water line.
  36. F

    Is this spawning behaviour?

That would explain it then,as I turned the temperature up a couple of days ago from 20 to 22.
  37. F

    Is this spawning behaviour?

That could be something in the future. Melon barbs are cracking wee fish and the males are very colourful.👍
