Constipated fish then sores on side

Both sides at the same place had this. Both were white spots, then this. Now I have another Tetra that disappeared and a Gourami about to die. All in the past 2 days. I can only assume it is my high PH now (unrealated to this fish). My PH was always 8.2, but it is now 8.8 and at a damn...

Constipated fish then sores on side

Well. Fish passed. Wasn’t anything I was thinking. Still no clue what happened. Looks like something ate its side. Assuming bacterial infection from the severe constipation. He went from a white spot to this.

Constipated fish then sores on side

Another idea that I was just reading. The sweeling was fairly large so an article I just read said possible bruising from busted blood vessels. Would make sense so I guess time will tell.

Constipated fish then sores on side

For sure. I’m baffled beyond belief and just at a loss. He’s getting better each day overall and moving more. Still eating great. Breathing returned to normal.

Constipated fish then sores on side

I’m crossing my fingers it’s not and that thought crossed my mind. I’ve had this fish since last May but not sure how long it takes TB to show any signs. I was also leaning away from the TB since the timing is all in sync with the constipation. The lesions are exactly where he was bulging and...

Constipated fish then sores on side

Also, here is the day I put him in the tank. He is doing his business and you can see the larger stool and the lesion is smaller. They got bigger and after he cleared his bowels.

Constipated fish then sores on side

Hey everyone. I had a fish that looked like its spine started to become crooked. Everything seemed OK as he continued to eat and swim. At some point last week he started staying at the bottom of the tank and moving less so I knew something was going on in relation. He also developed bulges in...

2 tetras vanished from 10 gallon

Don't get me wrong, there aren't anything fancy. I have 2 and barely ever see them.. From my understanding, they come out more at night, but I don't really know enough about them. I can say they did help a good bit of the green hair algae I had and know they eat the carcasses.

2 tetras vanished from 10 gallon

Yup. Being they are scavengers, I got the shrimp to help deal with algae, but they eat anything apparently. Have you seen Rex, the Peacock Mantis shrimp yet? (not what I have, but definitely an interesting take on shrimp)

2 tetras vanished from 10 gallon

I had a Balloon Molley and a Tetra disappear like that. No signs of bad health, but know the shrimp in my tank ate them. The Molley half a carcas popped up in a plant a day after I searched everywhere. The Tetra was never to be seen again. Even checked to make sure they didn't jump out, but...

    Ph way too high

I see I'm not the only one with PH issues. Comes out of tap at 7 and ends up 8.2. Nothing in the tank that I can see causing it to spike. Curious what you find out.

    Glow betta bent spine

Following. I've got a fish with a similarly bend spine, but can't figure out what it is. Doesn't seem to be any visible infection and it is acting normally. Weirdest thing Ive seen. Hope you get it sorted.

    64gal tank stocking

Thats interesting about the Angels and Gourami. I have 2 Angel and 4 Gourami. Been that way a while and no issue, but my tank was stocked more by my wifes "oh, i like that one" vs what works. I've been fortunate so far, but have already told her no more fish until others die off and can get...

    64gal tank stocking

I'm new into the entire fish world, but I have 2 Angels and 5 Neon's. There have been no attempts on the Neon's by either Angel. I'm actually on my third Angel since we lost one recently due to what I believe was a severe bacterial infection from being egg bound. I do notice that our original...

    New from Maryland

I could bypass the softener, but then will introduce higher levels of iron into the tank. Well water is a PITA. We installed a 4 gallon RO system in our house for drinking water, but it is not large enough to effectively fill the fish tank. I am going to attempt to work the PH down slowly...

It uses salt for the brine. Overall the fish have all been doing well, but never thought of the sodium. Is there a way to test my tank water for sodium levels? My wife picked out our variety of fish and I'm too new to even have picked up on that wide range of needs for them. For now, they...

What kind of algae is this?

I have that same light. I really like it. I had really bad algae growth in my 37 gallon tank. I had to pull decor and clean it often as it kept growing. We bough a couple shrimp that eat it though. I don't think it is the same algae you are dealing with though. The biggest thing I picked...

Where should I target GH? I can get it up with the wonder shells easily. I have tried PH adjusters, but only ever gets to 8ish (Seachem Acid buffer). Each daily dose is supposed to drop by .2, but then when I stop using it, it creeps back up. I can try that again. Only other issues I have...

The first Sword we lost was (started the tank with only 3 Swords) us not knowing you had to cycle a tank. The Ammonia spikes made him sick. Almost positive on that one. The second was from the same set, but save him. We actually thought it was female, but started developing the long tailed...

    New from Maryland

It did. I enjoy it, but there is a soft side of me that gets disappointed when we lose a fish. The Angel I lost 2 days back was tough. More because my wife is particuarly fond of them and I think they are a really interesting fish. We randomly also lost a yellow tail Congo that was seemingly...

Yeah. It is funny how the hobby was supposed to be hers yet it’s me handling everything. Funny thing is as I started researching more and more. I ended up upgrading everything to better equipment as well. My general hardness is always very low out of my tap since I have a water softener. I...

    New from Maryland

Hey everyone. I’m a new member here and fairly new to the fish hobby. My wife and I started this past March. It all started with a phone call from her while she was at Petsmart saying she wanted to get fish for our son. Well she ends up coming home with hundreds of dollars to set up a 37 gallon...

At a loss - Angelfish died suddenly

Hey everyone. I just signed up here and have a question that I just can’t seem to find an answer for. Yesterday I lost 1 of 2 Angelfish. A few weeks ago my wife and I noticed eggs on our filter intake pipe. It looks like it may have been the Angelfish based on the answers I could find. The eggs...
