    Yo-yo loaches and tank size

I put 7 in my tank a few months back, but think 1 didn't make it. I can always count 6 at feeding, but can never seem to get the 7. They are fast so I could just be missing it. Either way, these are such cool fish. Probably my favorite yet. The way they just decide "ehh, I'm going to fall...

The piece I have is quite large, but would hollow out the center on the bottom and possible attach a stone to it that way.

I ended up with the natural wood. These fake are going back. I may have to find a way to keep it at the bottom though. I'm soaking it now, but it is just floating. May have to adhere some rock to it or something like Whistlingbadger mentioned.

I am returning it. I got some driftwood yesterday though to replace it. Soaking it now so it will eventualy sink.

So here is an interesting ask: I recently replaced a faded fake rock in my aquarium with a fake root looking piece of decor I found on Amazon and had decent reviews. The link of what I bought is below. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGFHW2L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title This has been in my...

    Tropical Fish “Supermarket “

House of Tropicals has been around for decades. They are the go to's in MD. It is an older and dilapidated looking place, but have only ever seen positive reviews about them. They seem to know their stuff and have a ton of fish and hardware. The times I've been in there I couldn't see...

GH and KH, do I need to worry......

I know many will chime in and mention you should be doing larger water changes. I do 50% weekly after reading and getting a ton of advice on this forum. Larger change will help remove more waste and other possible causes of increased GH/KH. I've also never had accurate PH on a test strip. I...

    Algae Infestation in Cycled Tank

I did a 120 second 1:20 bleach dip with great success on my plants. Only negative was my Crypts. The leaves melted a bit on those.

Starting my first 125g with some questions!

I really like my CO2Art system. I bought their larger in tank diffuser for my 75, but if I went to a larger tank, I'd go for their in line diffuser, but that is a personal preference. Get a 10# tank at minimum. I'm running a 5, but I have a half dozen of them because I also brew beer so they...

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

I ignored it at the up/down vertical since the heat comes from the bottom of the tube, rises and hits the sensor at the top causing a 30 second to 1 minute raise from 78 to a max of 80, then immediately hits 78 again. All other area's of the tank remained 78 as I have multiple thermometers just...

    Buyer beware beware

We've got Laser Ship in the states. Complete garbage of a company, but more online vendors are using them because they are cheaper than Fed Ex or UPS. They will note something as delivered and actually deliver it days later. Or they say delayed because the driver doesn't want to come to that...

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

Can't say. As it is designed, as long as it has flow it should be fine. Even with LF, it still heats. You just get the annoying warning. I tried the 45 degree based on the conversations in this thread and I get no warnings on it. Prior I got LF and High Temp, but the overall tank temp never...

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

Well, I'll take that correction. Since sitting at 45 I haven't had 1 LF warning nor a RED high temp alert.

    Crack In New Aquarium

You said it's new, so I'd return it for one that isn't busted. Don't try and fix that, especially with something you got new.

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

Next time I'm doing a water change, I'll mess with heater location to see if it makes a difference in my tank just for S&G's. My current filter output fires right on the flow sensor so that may be why mine isn't as bad as some others see.

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

That's interesting. I've never had this issue on my 75. The LF warning doesn't impact the heating nor stop it from functioning. To me, its more of an annoying warning. I've got a constant 78 degree's throughout my tank and no noticeable fluctuation. That is with a Fluval 407. The only...

Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

Mine is straight up/down. I get the LF (Low Flow warning) every so often, but confirmed with Fluval that they don't need to be at a specific angle. Its just placement in a flow area for the sensor which is at the top of the unit. They also stated that the heater will still function properly...

    UV light

It will speed up the offgassing. I ran a pretty detailed test in different water over the course of a week. RO vs RO remineralized with seachem products and RO remineralized with some of my substrate.

    UV light

It sits for 24 hours. Without the remineralization it settles at 6.4. With it settles at 7.8 but now 7.6 since I’m slowly backing off of Equilibrium and that is why the oh goes up more than you’d think. The swing is only because if co2 injection now and not what I was dealing with in the past...

Best website for fish tanks (USA)

It doesn't fasten, but with the hardware it has an L type leg base that will lay solidly on the rim of that particular tank. It fits quite well.

Best website for fish tanks (USA)

The structure is solid, but Aqueon sells a 2 piece lid as well. I like it since it keeps weight down with a 2 piece glass lid vs one. That is how I have mine set up. I'm running a Chihiros light without any impact from the center brace being there and don't get a shadow from it either The...

    UV light

My ph currently swings from 7.8 to 7 and back over the course of 24 hours. That is due to the CO2 infusion which has been a huge improvement on my plants. I got the high (over 8) ph under control by limiting the Seachem Alkaline buffer. I'm using 7g per 20 gallon of water now and get 4kh. Im...

Best website for fish tanks (USA)

I bought the 75G Aqueon from Petco. Right now is $145. If you sign up for their monthly $10 care club, you get 15% off your accessories and a $5 gift card every month. I use the rewards a lot and its great to have the 15% off. Would take $22ish off the tank so you'd get it for a little over...

Gotcha. I've got higher CO2 that runs my DI resin down quickly. Only get 25ish gallons from the same system you are using and the DI is shot. Makes me not want to use it and don't feel like running RO then letting sit a day to offgas then running through DI again...

Upgrade from 10 gal to 20 gal

The good ole wife stories. My fish hobby was supposed to be my wife's. Lasted ohhhhh an hour. Now its all mine haha.. Only thing she's concerned with is how many different fish can go in the tank. I've slowly told her she needs to look more at the fish needs and what will work with our...

Going on holiday soon, fish pooping white.

I went through this not too long ago. Treated with Flubendazole as well. Haven't had an issue since. I did multiple rounds of it and very detail weekly cleaning of the tank.

    Heater debate.

I used to have mine to the back left of my filter pickup then pickup then output facing to the right to create a circular flow around the tank. THen I upgraded my heater to the Fluval E series that loves to give a LF (low flow) alarm in the back corner so it needs to be in the flow of water to...

I've got well water too, but is horrible. I run all RO/DI now and remineralize. Im pumping 40G a week for water changes so plan to upgrade my RO system. Also brewing beer, I can take advantage of a better RO system for 2 hobbies. Wells can be great, but they can be trash too.

High PH, large tank, low stock

I bought a RO system off Amazon. A 100gpd RO buddy for $85 and run it into a $25 trash can. Long term can be cost beneficial instead of buying each week as well. Best thing I ever did. My tank has finally been fairly stable. I keep my GH at 5 degrees and KH at 2 to 3. With that (using...

75 Gallon Planted Community Stocking Advice

I need some advice on assassin snails

I'm going to try a snail trap in my tank using an algae wafer or zuccinni. I'm pulling out at least 10 a day or even more. Can't stand it anymore. They popped up overnight it seemed. I don't want to get into Assassin snails, but love seeing the info.

I need some advice on assassin snails

Following. I've got pest snails. I believe Bladder snails from some Alder cones I used. I pull at least 10 a day. Nowhere near as infested as OP, but need to get rid of these things and not snail hunt every day.

Liquid or Strips: Freshwater Test Kit Preference?

I use both. I typically use the strips if I'm looking for trends. I use the liquid 95% of the time though for accuracy. I also want ta decent digital meter for PH. The cheap ones are cheap and never seem to calibrate.
