Hello, This does not need Co2 to grow but without it grows a lot slower. Growth wise I would swy it grows at same speed as Xmas moss.

It's all down to personal preference, I prefer gravel because I found sand a pain to keep clean and it tends to get everywhere including the filter, also I found that sand washed out the fishes colors. But plenty of people here use sand and love it so it's all down to what you prefer.

I just buy A1 pieces of black card from hobby craft and secure it to the back of tank. If I want to change its easy to remove and can be put back on if required. My friend has used blue card which looks quite nice.

Well all I can tell you is that you wont be able to fit any external filter pipes when using the lid, I beleive some of the Arc tanjs come with plastic lids so you could cut a slot out. My Arc60 came with toughened glass which could not be cut, so I dont use it due to the external filters pipes.

It depends on what you are going to have in your tank, my mum has a Fluval Edge with 1 Betta, a few shrimp and plants and I only clean the HOB filter once every 2-3 months, in that time it does get quite dirty even with just the Betta and shrimp. I dont bother cleaning the sides of the filter...

With the levels of Nitrate you are quoting I would not worry. As long as you stick to a good maintenence routine (ie; regular water changes/filter cleaning) you can forget about your Nitrate level.

Hello, I use Eco Complete in my Arc tank and would say that it is to sharp for Corrys, you may be able to cap it off with sand but the sand might work its way underneath the Eco Complete over time.

Well count yourself lucky that you couldn't find any Eheim air pumps! I have had 3 of the smallest pumps they do (Eheim 3701) and Believe me they are not quiet.

I agree with you about not needing the Carbon (not sure the OP is using carbon anyway), but Seachem Purigen works wonders for water clarity so I would say keep it in the filter. And mix the alphagrog with the ceramic rings in the bottom tray.

Did you open the taps back up fully? and did you give it a good shake to remove any trapped air? The drilling sound you describe (like a tapping sound) usually happens when the filter is turned back on before the taps are opened.

If you work in a pet store which sells fish you can take some mature media from the shops filter system to use in your filter, that way you can add your Betta striaght away.
