    Help With Rock Placement

Thanks for all the comments and advice, the rocks are landscaping rocks. I bought some from Aqua Essentials and some for a local fish store, they are in the tank now and I am happy with the placement. Just need to wait for the HC to spread across the whole tank and it should look great. Then I...

Which Is Better? Sand Or Gravel

It's all down to personal preference, I prefer gravel because I found sand a pain to keep clean and it tends to get everywhere including the filter, also I found that sand washed out the fishes colors. But plenty of people here use sand and love it so it's all down to what you prefer.

How Do You End The Suffering Fish?

I use the ice water method, not much of a fan of the clove oil method. Only because I have heard people (with more experiance than me) quote that it may cause pain by burning the fishes eyes or gills plus I only keep small fish so the Ice water method seems to kill small fish instantly. I...

Please Help My Doomed Tank - Fish Suffering Badly - Mass Exodus

Sorry I dont have much time to reply but all I can say is that you need to follow the instructions for a "fish in cycle" which you can find lots of information on in the beginners section. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/224306-fish-in-cycling/ If you want to do this properly...

Hello, The Roma hood has T8 fixtures as standard, what I have done is remove the T8 tubes, and routed the cables from a T5 ballest to where the T8 fixtures are. Then I have secured some Arcadia metal reflectors to the hood using stainless steel bolts and the reflectors hold the T5 tubes in...

Nitrates Still High After 80% Water Change, Do I Clean My New Filter?

It will when the filter is running on a stocked tank, cleaning the filter will remove any trapped waste (ie poo, plant debris ect) all of this will break down over time causing Nitrate to be pumped into the water. During a fishless cycle its not going to make much or any difference because the...

    Arcadia Arc And Arc Ii

Well all I can tell you is that you wont be able to fit any external filter pipes when using the lid, I beleive some of the Arc tanjs come with plastic lids so you could cut a slot out. My Arc60 came with toughened glass which could not be cut, so I dont use it due to the external filters pipes.

Nitrates Still High After 80% Water Change, Do I Clean My New Filter?

It depends on what you are going to have in your tank, my mum has a Fluval Edge with 1 Betta, a few shrimp and plants and I only clean the HOB filter once every 2-3 months, in that time it does get quite dirty even with just the Betta and shrimp. I dont bother cleaning the sides of the filter...

Nitrates Still High After 80% Water Change, Do I Clean My New Filter?

With the levels of Nitrate you are quoting I would not worry. As long as you stick to a good maintenence routine (ie; regular water changes/filter cleaning) you can forget about your Nitrate level.

    Eco Complete For Corys

    All Pond Solutions Filters

The only parts that are flimsy are the baskets, but as long as you are careful when removing them they are more than strong enough to do what they are designed to do. The rest of the filter is made of plastic which seems just as strong as ther plastic used on any other external filters I have...

    All Pond Solutions Filters

I have been using one for over a year and apart from requireing a replacement head (that was sent out quickly by APS) the filter has not missed a beat. What Order?

I agree with you about not needing the Carbon (not sure the OP is using carbon anyway), but Seachem Purigen works wonders for water clarity so I would say keep it in the filter. And mix the alphagrog with the ceramic rings in the bottom tray.

Preparing New Water For The Tank

Preparing New Water For The Tank

Well the easiest way I find is to use the hot and cold tap (on a mixer tap) to fill up three x 25l water containers, I add 1mm Prime to each container and just pour the water into my half emptied tank. Both taps on full blast and the water come out tempeture matched there or there abouts. My...

Glass Lily Pipes And Flow Advice Needed

Hello, You are on the right track in regards to flow, so as long as you can create good enough circulation with what ever outlet you use you should be fine, if you need to add a power head a hydor koralia nano 900lph would add enough additional flow to deal with any possible dead spots...

Just a few obvious things to check, is the power head or the power cable touching or coming into contact with anything that is transfering the vibrations and causing a noise? If the power head uses a magnet on the outside of the tank to hold it on in line with the magnet on the powerhead? if...

    Ehiem Ecco Pro

Hi, what length are the pipes and how old is the filter? My best mate is looking for a quiet filter for his 90litre tank, and will you include the new media from your new filter with this filter?
  36. Livewire88

    Tetratec Ex1200 Suddenly Noisy

Yeah I meant open the adjustable taps fully, I assume the key you are talking about is the part that holds the part between the taps and motor head together, this will always need to be closed. If you have used the taps to slow the flow down this may be causing the noise, I used to use reducers...
  37. Livewire88

    Tetratec Ex1200 Suddenly Noisy

Did you open the taps back up fully? and did you give it a good shake to remove any trapped air? The drilling sound you describe (like a tapping sound) usually happens when the filter is turned back on before the taps are opened.
