So I'm starting another grindal worm culture with scouring pads. Just some cheap ones from Target. And while I was doing that I had a thought. I wonder if coarse filter foam would work as a culture medium for grindals.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about handling the dog roughly or painfully. Just picking it up and holding it.

Mice are kind of like livebearers. If you have a male and female, you will have a whole lot of babies. If you have the heart for it, you can sell the babies to reptile owners to feed to their pets.

A leash or a fenced in yard. Labs have a lot of energy.

While the dog is a puppy, pick it up and hold it every day. This establishes dominance. No matter how big the dog gets, it will think you can always handle it like that.

In a pinch I have a sponge filter running in an established tank that I use for emergencies. I also throw in a handful of a fast growing floating plant. That usually works. Plus I do water changes every other day when the fish are new to the q tank.

A few generations of breeding is not going to overcome thousands of years of evolution.

And the thing is; whether you have soft or hard water, there are lots of great options either way. It's really best to work with what you have instead of trying to chase a parameter.

If you're going to use oak leaves for anything aquarium related, be careful where you collect them from. You don't want to get them from anywhere they spray pesticides (like parks). And trees by roadways accumulate exhaust residue on the leaves.

I don't think that fish stores should sell them except for special orders. They get too big for most fishkeepers to properly house. And they've become an invasive species in some parts of the country where people irresponsibly release them into the wild.
