i usually find that if they wont eat a certain food, let them go without food for a day or two and then theyll eat it. i tend to only feed my fish every other day anyways as it creates less waste n ensures the fish eat every bit when i feed them

get yourself a strip of connector block that wil be sufficient, get one rated for the current tho for example 5amp or 13amp block, then heat shrink it to keep it dry (not that it should be submerged just for piece of mind)

using a duff tube can burn a ballast out, i replace alot of ballasts in work that have burnt out as a result of spent tubes being in them and being left on for extended periods of time

in my experience with using twin ballasts in domestic situations then it should be fine so longs the unused connections are kept away from any water, best thing to do would be to remove the unused endcaps and wires at the ballast itself

i agree, im currently in the process of building a tank stand for my 36" breeder tank, its built with 3x2s for the top and bottom and 2x4s for the supporting legs and cladded with pine & mahogany ply, its an absolute tank of a thing and way over built but at least i know its solid and will last...
