    Should I get a gourami?

Hopefully I don’t kill them! Trying my best to make their lives the best I can (:

    Should I get a gourami?

Yeah again I’m in Arizona so it’s 103 today but my house is at a good 76 so I think I’ll be able to make that work! And again sorry about the combo I’ve gotten so many suggestions and it’s hard since I am newer ):

    Should I get a gourami?

And yes I apologize about the betta someone had mentioned it earlier and the minnows I was told would do good in my small tank and the guy said only to beware about betta diseases not tank temp
  4. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

    4 guppies and 5 minnows

    Should I get a gourami?

Woke up to lots of info haha. I know my water is on the warmer side for all my fish so I think I’ll drop it to a good middle temp that should suit all my fish better. I’m thinking 74 or 76?

    Should I get a gourami?

That’s not good ): I definitely thought he was a good fish keeper as he also told me gouramis wouldn’t be good and neither would barbs and deterred me from certain fish so I wasn’t feeling pushed. He did say neons but I’m scared of them due to tetra disease ):

    Should I get a gourami?

I’m aware of the possible issues but my guppies are surprisingly calm and not aggressive and my betta is super chill they came up to her and no nipping or biting occurred they just said “hello” to each other (:

    Should I get a gourami?

): that’s sad I wonder why they’re kept here in warm water
  9. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

Again I know that’s the normal but I’m in Arizona and they were kept with tropical fish so they’re accustomed to 78 degree water
  10. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

I live in Arizona where most “soft water” fish are raised in hard water with a higher ph. I know column isn’t ideal but I’ve learned nothing really is “ideal” in my tank. Before I even told the fish store owner my ph or hardness he warned me they were raised in a ph of 7.6 and hard tap water...

    Should I get a gourami?

Update! Got a female koi betta and some white clouds (: decided that’s what would work best for me and talked to a few really knowledgeable fish keepers who also told me any gourami would be hard in my tank
  12. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

Thank you!! I’ll look into hard water nano fish
  13. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

I also called the water company and hardness converted is 200ppm. Which I read can be slightly hard - hard but mines in the middle. Does that help at all?
  14. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

If I could soften the water would that help? I recently added some driftwood that should help with that. And I’ve noticed that too, was looking at skirt tetras until I saw that they can eat guppies. I’m attached to the little dudes though ):

    Should I get a gourami?

I’m starting to regret my tank style, although it’s all I could fit in my room ):
  16. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

  17. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

Sigh sigh seems as if I’m in a pickle
  18. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

I have a sponge and carbon and it’s still a little strong. It would be worth a try though. Could I add some nano fish with a female betta and my 4 guppies? I was looking at ember tetra or chili Rasboras
  19. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

I have a pretty strong current in there is what I’m worried about as I’ve heard they aren’t strong swimmers

    Should I get a gourami?

I’m not quite sure, he just told me to add more water conditioner. For reference I live in Mesa Arizona where the ppm of tap water is “Water hardness in Mesa ranges from 12 gpg (grains per gallon) to 22 gpg” so my water is definitely hard
  27. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

Sorry it’s definitely not too soft! I read it incorrectly as last time I got my water professionally tested they said it was a little too hard.
  28. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

It may be softer than usual as I have medication in there and lots of conditioner as I was treating bacterial infection, but my ph is 7.6 and the dGH is 11. It’s been higher before though as where I live has hard water
  29. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

    It’s dGH
  30. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

And temperature can be 78-82 my guppies are flexible
  31. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

Ph is 7.6 and hardness is 11
  32. RenC

I’m not that interested in shrimp to be honest /: I was wanting another type of fish
  33. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

I know ): do you have any suggestions on tank mates for my guppies?
  34. RenC

    Should I get a gourami?

    Should I get a gourami?

Hi! I currently have 4 guppies in a 15 gallon tank. I want to get a dwarf Gourami and afterwards add a couple otocinclus. Are these a good match? I’ve read that they are but I wanted some advice (: here is my tank as well (planning on adding floating plants)

Help! White particles in tank multiplying and wont go away

It could be bacteria that’s in the rocks that multiply, I’ve heard of that. And yes I do always have a few white particles that settle after a few minutes when I fill up my tank but not even close to that bad
