We have a very elusive Bamboo shrimp in the tank. days ago he was wandering around happily but never been seen since. Today I noticed this. Is it possible to tell from picture if he dead or moulting?

    Mini cycle?

Since the completion of medication in my tank I’ve noticed that there are Nitrites in the water. I’ve been doing about 50-60% water changes daily for 5 days now. Initially there were very low (<0.25ppm) levels of Ammonia but after Day 3 it was consistently zero. However Nitrites seems to remain...

Is this bacterial infection on my Peppered Corydoras

Did daily 70% water change as there were trace Nitrites. I think there’s less mucus now and he seems to be feeding. Fingers crossed.

Help! Can't decide!! Vote! Eheim 4+ 350 or Fluval 307

Fluval 307 owner here so I might be a bit biased. It's a brilliant filter, especially if you like some flow.

Is this bacterial infection on my Peppered Corydoras

Ah, so the white stuff is mucus, not fungus. Spot on! Tested water again and the Nitrite was a little high. I just changed water. Strange that other fish is not showing same signs but I suppose this one could be weaker. He seems active and I saw him feeding earlier.Fingers crossed he will...

Is this bacterial infection on my Peppered Corydoras

I was reducing feed lately as a precautionary measure. Must say the corydoras not getting most of the food. I will feed a little more tablets and observe. The barbs and sometimes tetra seems to peck at the tablets too.

Is this bacterial infection on my Peppered Corydoras

Fish science Corydoras tablets mainly and some sinking worm pallets however do notice the other fish are grabbing more of the food. Am I under feeding? Worried about the clamped fins but I’ve just completed 3 days of eSha 2000 (copper sulphate) treatment on Monday.

Is this bacterial infection on my Peppered Corydoras

I’m a little worried about the corydoras. The fins are clamped and the head looks like there is a layer of white stuff? Also looks a bit sunken to me. He seems to be swimming around normally.

    Newbie betta questions

Got my plants earlier than expected. Not too happy with the condition as it’s starting to wilt. Salvaged them best I could and planted them. Dropped a fert tab and added some Stability. Started cycle with some worm pallets as ammonia source. Here goes nothing lol. Tap water getting colder now...

    Newbie betta questions

I’m in no rush so taking it slowly. I would prefer cartridge type filter as it also contains bio media. I’ve stuff some sponge on the outlet and it seemed to slow the flow down a little. I think for tank this size it’s hard to find filter with low flow. I’ve seen those air pump driven sponge...

    Newbie betta questions

Sorry if I’m being thick, but not too sure about your prefilter recommendation? I’ve cut some household sponge and stuffed it into the output of current filter. It has like a duckbill flow deflector. This does slow down the flow rate a little. I’ve seen some sponge filters in Amazon but looks...

    Newbie betta questions

I’ve experimented with cutting some washing up sponge and inserting it to the output funnel and it did stop the particles swirling around a little bit. I will see how the flow is once plants are in.

    Newbie betta questions

Ok, perhaps I need to re-consider my option of filter. I can see some particles swirling around the tank to I think that would be too much flow. I can use this as QT filter if required. I had a look at sponge filters but the ones I see are powered by an air pump. This will definitely also cause...

What’s the ideal tank temp for betta? Would 24-25C be ok? If the flow is a bit strong, will it stress the betta?

The filter is tiny (about 6” tall) but flow is quite strong. It has deflector but not doing much. Might see now the tank fares with plant before decide if suitable for betta. NICREW light is awesome with 24/7 cycle and weather effects. I was under impression it’s possible to adjust length of...

Initially this is meant to be a QT but its not used much so I thought I’d try to make it a planted tank. I’ve always fancied having a betta so toying with the idea of adding one betta in after everything is up and running. It’s definitely only going to be one fish in the tank hence why I...

    London nitrates

Not sure if it’s the Seachem Matrix or the fact that I’m treating my tank but on the second day of adding Seachem Matrix my Nitrate tested lower than usual(would say closer to 10ppm instead of 20ppm), even with regular feeding.
