7 month old discus feeding on tropical flakes, frozen blood worms and hikari discus bio gold.

Discus fish feeding on tropical flakes, frozen blood worms and discus bio gold. I started with beefhert mix and discus bio gold from the start for the community fish tank and the discus liked the flavours. Later introduced frozen blood worms and tropical flakes to increase gutt health and add...

What you should know about discus

I agree. I was not specifying on the color it's the fish. I think as fish keepers we do mistakes buy not buying a school of fish from a tank. Sometimes fish from the same breeder different tanks work sometimes you find a odd one out. Like Plebeian said So word of mouth spreads pretty fast in...

What you should know about discus

This is something I'm facing at the moment with my powder blue discus. The Discus seem to be very timid and in one end of the tank. The sellers water it was in was acidic since they add a daily dose of salt and this is not an option for my tank since its planted. After 2 weeks I gave it 2 salt...

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

6 month update on discus. Doing a prophylactic heat treatment on the group (can't save the plants during the treatment). Salt bath was given to the powder blue discus that's not eating and hope in 3 weeks he eats.

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

In a nutshell my Bosemani rainbows didn't eat beefheart mix but after I got the new turqs and power blue discus they eat. The turquoise and powder blue didn't eat pellets at the LFS but they don't spare it in my main tank. So many positives on the other fish and diets except the one powder...

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

I honestly don't wana QT for treatment yet as he dosent look sick. I have seen and read experience with discus by treating healthy ones and they get messed up. I just feel had I bought only 4 or 6 powder blues without any turquoise they would have eaten. Read so many forums and all said new...

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

I tried this colin_T the powder blue dodges away from the hanging food. It's been 12 days now he still conserves energy by staying in dark corners and places with cover. He was regurgitating the food that was inside him and don't seem to have any interest in the various foods I offered. So now...

    Bumps on rasbora bellies?

The bumps could be ulcers from your fish fighting. Overfeeding and fluid build ups are the normal cause.

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

I'm from Sri Lanka. An island south of India. It would be nice if all the food access in the US is available here. The only way to get it down is Amazon or Ebay but its expensive and shipping takes a long time.

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

I agree with you 100% on the diets but I haven't heard of any local breeders using any other forms of food apart from beefhert mix in where I live. So getting black frozen or live worms will be a challenge for me. The only positive is when I do a water change the powder blue comes to the front...

Why Hobbiest find Discus fish Demanding!

Every thing what you said is 100% accurate. This too is not working for the powder blue. Others are feeding frenzy. Just concerned how long it will take him to feed and not go morose with the other fish and catch any desease. Discus are pretty good at showing aggression on sullen discus.

Terrestrial plants roots make a great habitat option

Hillstreams I got love sandy substrate and camouflage them selves. The pothos roots must be providing cover and disloved oxygen at that level in the tank.

It's been 3 weeks since I got the new batch of discus and one powder blue didn't feed so after 2 weeks I changed it and gota new powder blue still not feeding, all the others are just doing fine. Water Parameters and other variables are favourable for the new batch. Its without any reason I find...

    Discus help

I started keeping Discus recently and not knowledgeable than most experts. Try to get in touch your LFS or the Discus breeder and ask him for the medication and food he fed and you could do due diligence from that base. Discus are schooling fish and that makes a huge difference in their health...
