Who gets stress bars male or female discus fish?

I check the dorsal fins tip on the back and the caudal fin tip on the top and draw a line to check if it's crossing or overlapping. This is however not that accurate when the fins are not optimal. They haven't still layed any eggs so this might take time to observe however, I'll watch out for...

Who gets stress bars male or female discus fish?

You are Right, they are pretty sensitive to water quality. Hence, in contrast you need to do more water changes in order for them to adapt to your tap water or other water you use. Mine have adapted pretty well. I would probably cut down on feeding after the discus have fully grown. They are...

Who gets stress bars male or female discus fish?

Yes they do get excited. Active and healthy. However, I still see there are more males than females. Wondering if that's causing the stress.

Who gets stress bars male or female discus fish?

The discus group has established the pecking order however, the past 2 weeks the red turquoise discus are showing stress bars. I don't know if it's mating season but want to know which discus darkens out of the 2 fish?

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

I'm taking your word for it. I wouldn't wana take a risk when solving discus problems and giving solutions.

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

Ohh sorry to hear that you have been a lot over a pet store business and stolen pets. Hope you recover your loses and move on. I saw a video on youtube a cockatiel swearing and screaming and the neighbours complained and the cops came to the house and the man said it was a false alarm.

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

I'm glad your a pessimist and don't waste other peoples time in the way you think. In Sri Lanka most fish business culture attitude should be changed to helping customers like you correctly said and revoke from false advertising. The thing with discus, every cm increased of the fish the price...

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

I think I don't understand what's in your mind. Let me elaborate abit more, example I see on the Internet discus fish with a high grade for sale and go to purchase them at a higher price they want to sell. When I get there in person and inspect the fish they are not as close as the Internet post...

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

This happens in general, consumer habits keep changing rapidly on social media platforms and products and services are copied or duplicated most of the time. GaryE said on another thread I wrote that his experience in Gabon was tied up with a whole new experience to go with and I assume price...

My most expensive fish $ 1300.

I thought wild caught are more hardy fish less prone to desease than captive bred discus. The medicine you find in your LFS or Internet always dosent work on most occasions. I find most of my fish dead when I use them. But like I said seeing a fish for the 1st time that you want will convince...

My most expensive fish $ 1300.

I had an arapima before the arowana and boy he was the centre of attention. He grew up to 4 feet later transfered to a public aquarium "Water World" in Sri Lanka.

My most expensive fish $ 1300.

RTG or Red Tail Golden Arowana spent $ 1300 and size was 10 inches, has grown a few inches in pic and the rest is history. Arowanas were my 1st love 😉 and didn't disappoint. The experience was truly Asia.

You cant blame them in barebottom tanks you only find 2 dimensional. This I like GaryE, I'll definitely keep it well 😃. That's nice ro hear. A TFF delegation should visit Sri Lanka some day.

We call it paradise gourami, they are mostly seen in public aquariums and zoos. The local species of fish are interest of to research centres mostly, not in the ornamental fish community. Sri Lankans love mostly Asian, African, Central and South American species of fish.

Everyone loves the original. It's a nostalgic feeling I guess even I would like to have wild caught one's but never seen any till present. However, in my part of the world not many WC discus are out for sale since its not been introduced to the local market. Most of the discus that are imported...

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

The imported blood lines from Malaysia, Indonesia and other F1 graded discus fish would definitely be above $ 6.83 in Sri Lanka however, "its over priced". I don't trust the local market as most of the breeders mix the strains or import low quality strains and sell them at a high price. I...

Discus mafia and pricing fish way beyond their worth

I have been having discus for about 8 months now and my discus cost me only US $ 6.83 a pair. Discus fish prices are a mafia in Sri Lanka and true, genuine fish keepers can't ignore the fact that the hobby is highly commercialised for personal gains and interest. Spending more on discus food...

Can I add more Discus fish?

My discus are 7 months old and I have been feeding them 3 times a day. I have read on simply discus they feed 4inch discus 5 to 6 time a day and adults 3 times a day. Can 5 to 6 times a day be over-feeding the fish when they got small gutts?

Can I add more Discus fish?

Your correct 100%. Like you said they are half way there before hitting 18 to 24 months and if they happen to breed ill have to get another tank. What do you think of the standard 1 discus for every 10 gallons of water?

Can I add more Discus fish?

Thanks Malok, I'll keep that in mind. Great words GaryE, I keep getting the ideas watching barebottom small tanks. I do the WC and all the maintenance like they do in the barebottoms when the thought rises.

Maybe try feeding twice a day???

You could try using a feeding cone, that helps with my discus and defusing any aggression and giving the others a chance when the bully is tired.

What to do for Discus white stringy feces and cure

One of the melon discus have got white stringy feces and being abit lethargic in the tank. Working on my tank / fish picture taking abilities

What type of LED light is fit to your tank. If its submersible in water you could maximise the light in your tank by raising the water level to the top of the tank and placing the submersible light on the water surface which covers most of the tank area. This would help increasing the light in...

7 month old discus feeding on tropical flakes, frozen blood worms and hikari discus bio gold.

Thanks Magnum Man, the discus was from experienced breeders and exporters. If you are interested I could arrange discus to be exported to your country. Unfortunately the Danison Barbs died a week back along with all the tetras and SAE. This was after my filter had exploded due to sponge clogging...
