    My Fishies!!

Azolla aka mosquito fern is fine its basically a nutrient sink, It will grow fast if it has nutrients, don't let it cover the entire surface, keep it to about 1/3 of the surface area. When it gets a bit much scoop off a heap and put in the garden or pot plants, its a great fertilizer too.

    Dirty fish tank

So Im guessing the fish are in the tank as food?

    My Fishies!!

I would remove the plastic and add real wood, also try a black background Something like this, https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8019/7676849680_814718e572_c.jpg

Help! My filter has broken, what should I do?

Over using the report button will see one stripped naked and made to clean a pond full of leeches.

New Betta is hanging out at the top of tank

My suggestion is get a small bottle of Seachem prime I don't know what it will cost where you are but in Australia its about $9, and you only need 2 drops per gallon of new water. So on a 5 gallon tank doing a 50% to 76% water change you only need 2 drops. Check this out...

Colin Its best to hit the report button for stuff like that, sometimes the mods dont read every post.

New Betta is hanging out at the top of tank

To be honest that product is a waste of money, any commercial water conditioner is fine and will work out cheaper than that stuff. This stuff contains Goji Berry I mean I cant even think what thats for. API tap water conditioner or Seachem prime is much better.

    Time to prune?

Actually thats not as silly as it sounds with a 10 or 14 mm hose. But I wont bother because I would only be throwing out nutrients and my ammonia nitrites and nitrates are all zero.
  9. N

Is there different types of mollies on the basis of size?

A matter of age and the type, female mollies can grow to a maximum size of 6 inches (15 cm)

    Time to prune?

Should I prune the Rotala down or let it grow a bit more? Im with growing a bit more. I have also planted Rotala along the back but that will take a bit to grow in around the wood. The plan is to have Rotala shrubs along the front bottom like the one you see center of tank. Thats if I can...

    New tank, stocking help pls

While not an absolute, Endlers do better with a bit of salt in the water, about 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons. I keep mine in brackish water with my Bumblebee gobys, Endler fry make great goby food.

Overstocking? Tank size vs. filtration capacity

While its not an absolute, Mollies do best with a bit of salt and water so hard you could walk on it.

    RIP Black Moore

RIP poor fish. Did you get it as a mature fish? You know Black moors can live for 10 to 15 years easily if cared for correctly.

Help! My Goldfish Has A White Growth!

You mean like not using pea on constipated Bettas. LOL @ banned from Fishlore, I guess theres a good reason they did that.

    Heavy Breathing Betta

PS. A breeder offered me $70 for him but hes not for sale, I paid $50 for him.

    Heavy Breathing Betta

Thanks, Yes he is a looker My personal choice is Anubias attached to the glass with suction cups, Also a floating log is good. If you can, get a fake log like this, sand any rough edges down so he dont snag his tail on them and attach it to the glass with suction cups...

    Nitra Zorb???

It all depends on the stock. Pothos roots are toxic to shrimp if they eat them. Goldfish on the other hand love munching on the roots,

Overstocking? Tank size vs. filtration capacity

Stone? then thats ok, I used to work in the plastics industry mixing and compounding the raw materials before they became plastic.

    Heavy Breathing Betta

Ok he looks fine I cant see any swelling or the need for a epsom salt dip. He has huge fins, is he a Rose/feathertail? These guys need extra care because of the fins, Lots and I mean lots of plants including floating plants are needed for him to rest on. This is my Rose tail...

Overstocking? Tank size vs. filtration capacity

Im sorry but Rihnos are not aquatic animals so should be removed before they drown LOL, having said that I am serious about removing the plastic rhinos unless you are certain the plastic is food grade and aquarium safe, they could leech god knows what chemicals into the water.

    Sick or Injured Guppy

What smell are you removing? If it smells like rotten eggs thats hydrogen sulfide, a toxic gas created by bacteria breaking down organic matter Activated carbon is good for removing medication from the water other than that it has no practical use in an aquarium, If your water " smells " you...

New Betta is hanging out at the top of tank

Hi What is this magic product that requires 10 drops per gallon to treat water? Are you using tap or bottled water?
  25. N

New Tropical Aquarium (a few questions)

Not a problem. Are you around when the lights come on? If you are feed the fish about 5 minutes after the lights come on, in no time the fish will associate lights on with feeding time and it wont stress them out.

    Heavy Breathing Betta

Do not try epsom salt baths without instructions and in this case it may not be needed, any chance of a photo of the fish first? I need to see a side on photo showing his belly.

    Heavy Breathing Betta

Regardless of any uninformed opinions by some members on this site peas will not help with swim bladder issues. Epsom salt baths can help.

    Nitra Zorb???

Try some pothos in your tank it loves nitrate. Like this

Large Tumor Like Bumps on Betta

Its called a Cadual Peduncle. As for the rest of the lumps they are tumors, there is nothing you can do about them, and eventually they will kill the fish

Is 4 gallons enough for 2 dwarf gouramis

1.5 gallon is too small for any fish including a Betta.

    The betta breeding project

Bettas you buy from a pet shop are not worth breeding, the hobby is full of second rate Bettas that should have been culled.
  32. N

    Overfed Betta

You keep saying that, why dont your read up on the fact that Bettas are insectivores and that Danphia is a proven mild laxative, while there is no scientific evidence peas do anything. And maybe you wont be so confused.

    Black Ghost Knife fish DISEASE?!

BGK's should be kept by advanced level fish keepers I looked into keeping one and am about to disagree with @Byron a little. A BGK needs a tank that's at least 6 feet long 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall. I so want one but do not have the tank space.

What is difference between molly, platy, female swordtail

    Heavy Breathing Betta

Completely sterile? No, but I can sure as hell prevent cross contamination, and with a sick fish thats important. But hey, you think what you like.
  38. N

    Heavy Breathing Betta

No, No, No. I have healthy tanks and never share hoses or tools between them, each tank has its own tool kit. I once infected my tanks with ICH because I used the same tools on all the tanks. Never again.

    Syd gets a new home!

Hi Cool once he settles he will love it but first That tank needs more plants, Live or silk. Those Betta hammock's are not natural, Rather than that get some Anubias and use a suction cup to attach it to the glass near the surface but under floating plants. This is a natural way for a Betta...
