So I'm still in the hunt to find two species of fish that will get along in my 75 gallon tank. I'm thinking about Rainbowfish and Emperor tetras. I'm sure that water parameters are close enough since both are pretty hardy. Thoughts?

Thank you for your advice! I forsee the tank being small as the angels mature. But they would be juveniles at the time of purchase. Maybe I can do more water changes and up my bio media and feed less?

I have a 75g tank. There would only be one of the cichlids I mentioned with 10 angelfish....all will start off similar in size.

Does anyone know if a single Blue Aureum can be housed with Angelfish?

I'm pretty sure he's alive since I took him from my big tank to small tank. He might be full. I also know he most likely alive since he's still pooping.

I have zero experience with mystery snails.

I have a nerite snail in a 5 gallon who refuses to clean my tank. There are other pest snails working hard. There is plenty to clean, but he refuses to move. Is something wrong with him? Thoughts?

Thanks @Byron and @Metalhead88 First off, wow your congo tetras look amazing. I guess when I say centerpiece fish I mean a single larger fish 6+ inches that stand out among the community fish, higher in number. I'll look up the Red Severum, never heard of those fish.

What about a pair of Angels and a school of congo tetras? That could work right?

I've recently have been really interested in kissing gouramis and congo tetras. Would a single kissing gourami and a school of congo tetras be okay (around 12-15 of them)? This would be a in a 75g tank. The tank is also a planted tank with adequate flow and good water parameters.

I've always wondered how to keep population control without removing the male guppies? Perhaps some larger fish? Is that cruel? Someone on Youtube suggested it.

I wanted to get a school of glowlight tetras AND a school of turquoise rainbowfish. My only issue is that the tetras prefer KH between 4-8 and the rainbow prefer KH between 10-12. Does this mean they cannot be kept together since their water parameters are so different? Thoughts?

I'm not expert but you don't need much light for a cichlid tank. They prefer lower levels of light. That said, you could easily find a light that's 48 inches and light up the middle of the tank and it'll have a cool lighting effect.

I had a question. I know that cichlids prefer sand for substrate, but could one use gravel. Keep in mind the gravel is small and soft, nothing too sharp. I would also have driftwood along with stones. This would be for a mbuna tank. Thoughts?

Yes on the decaying plant leaves...but I'm clipping them off every time I see one decaying. I don't let any food fall, but once in awhile one pellet will reach the bottom. But again, I gravel vacuum the substrate every water change...shaking my head.

I think it's just organic matter like detritus and poop. And my snails are pooping nonstop as well.

The problem with these cheaper heaters is that they are unreliable and have horrible reviews. I guess I need to cough up more money and buy a cobalt neotherm 50watt heater.

It is adjustable, I can most likely reduce it to 75% or 50% strength.
