    Rainbow with Emperor Tetras

So I'm still in the hunt to find two species of fish that will get along in my 75 gallon tank. I'm thinking about Rainbowfish and Emperor tetras. I'm sure that water parameters are close enough since both are pretty hardy. Thoughts?

    Tankmate for Angelfish

It is a 4-foot tank. I never knew there needed to be so much water volume and size for Angelfish. I would not go for 10 fish due to your advice. I had no idea that you need to separate pairs. I might just forget getting Angels...I've always wanted them but they seem too difficult in terms of...

    Tankmate for Angelfish

Thank you for your advice! I forsee the tank being small as the angels mature. But they would be juveniles at the time of purchase. Maybe I can do more water changes and up my bio media and feed less?

    Tankmate for Angelfish

I have a 75g tank. There would only be one of the cichlids I mentioned with 10 angelfish....all will start off similar in size.

    Lazy Nerite

I'm pretty sure he's alive since I took him from my big tank to small tank. He might be full. I also know he most likely alive since he's still pooping.

I have a nerite snail in a 5 gallon who refuses to clean my tank. There are other pest snails working hard. There is plenty to clean, but he refuses to move. Is something wrong with him? Thoughts?

    Kissing Gourami Tankmates

Thanks @Byron and @Metalhead88 First off, wow your congo tetras look amazing. I guess when I say centerpiece fish I mean a single larger fish 6+ inches that stand out among the community fish, higher in number. I'll look up the Red Severum, never heard of those fish.

    Kissing Gourami Tankmates

Thanks for the input @Byron any suggestions for a nice centerpiece fish that would be good with congo tetras?

    Kissing Gourami Tankmates

That is typically what I've seen on site that sell the fish, no more than 6 inches. I also read an article that tiger barbs, congo tetras, and rosy barbs make good tankmates, but nothing is ever so black and white in this hobby since all fish have different personalities. @Byron looks like I...

    Kissing Gourami Tankmates

I've recently have been really interested in kissing gouramis and congo tetras. Would a single kissing gourami and a school of congo tetras be okay (around 12-15 of them)? This would be a in a 75g tank. The tank is also a planted tank with adequate flow and good water parameters.

    Stocking Question

I wanted to get a school of glowlight tetras AND a school of turquoise rainbowfish. My only issue is that the tetras prefer KH between 4-8 and the rainbow prefer KH between 10-12. Does this mean they cannot be kept together since their water parameters are so different? Thoughts?

    Nerite Snail Count

I have a 75-gallon freshwater tank. I only have 3-4 nerite snails and they cannot keep up with cleaning up my tank: walls, rocks, plants, etc. How much do you all think I need for this size tank? I'm thinking another dozen or so. Thoughts? Keep in mind that I do regular 50% weekly water...

    White Sac/Lint looking things

Ever since I started keeping female bettas I've noticed white sac/lint looking things on my glass. Is this due to the female bettas? I clean it off only to find it again a few days later. I've never seen this type of stuff on my glass with other species of fish. Thoughts?

    Lighting For Cichlid Tank

I'm not expert but you don't need much light for a cichlid tank. They prefer lower levels of light. That said, you could easily find a light that's 48 inches and light up the middle of the tank and it'll have a cool lighting effect.

    Gravel for Substrate

I had a question. I know that cichlids prefer sand for substrate, but could one use gravel. Keep in mind the gravel is small and soft, nothing too sharp. I would also have driftwood along with stones. This would be for a mbuna tank. Thoughts?

    High Flow Rate

No, it comes off easily when rubbed with my fingers or scraper. I am intimate with diatoms so I know it's "brown algae". It's not crazy bad in my tank, but it's on my glass and starting to cover the leaves on my plants. I gravel vacuumed every water change and my four fish cannot be creating...

Yes, it's a wavemaker. I'm still getting lots of brown algae even after water changes, reducing feeding, and stopped all fert dosing, and adding the wavemaker. Thoughts?

    High Flow Rate

Yes on the decaying plant leaves...but I'm clipping them off every time I see one decaying. I don't let any food fall, but once in awhile one pellet will reach the bottom. But again, I gravel vacuum the substrate every water change...shaking my head.

    High Flow Rate

No, it's the thing you attach to the side of your tank and pushes water. I understand that the high current can cause stress, but I'm very limited due to the quarantine. I cannot get more snails or buy shrimp, plus I think the bettas will harass the shrimp. I'm doing the best with what I have...

    High Flow Rate

I have a few female bettas in a 75g tank. I want to put my wavemaker back in because there is too much stuff sinking to the bottom and I suspect it's causing more organic waste. My question is: Can my females handle the flow? I know it's not a good idea with a male betta, but females have...
