I have no experience with anacharis but have heard great things about it. My water flow is low - moderate. I don't mind it looking too messy as long as they are hardy and make my water parameters healthy for my fish.

I don't know the specs for my light, but it is a strong light and it's on for around 8 hours. I did a nitrate test and it's at 0ppm. I can't control the intensity of the light so I'll have to reduce the amount of time is on during the day. I'll reduce it to 6 hours.

Yeah, I'm staying on top of water changes, feedings, and not overstocking; just a female betta and a nerite snail. I'll keep an eye on the plants and remove the ones that are really bad. Thanks. I plan on eventually replacing these plants by floating water sprite and see if they do better.

Oh man how did this happen? I thought floating plants were the way to go to keep things healthy in a tank. They are floating ferns species.

Anyone having issues with water changes due to the heatwave? My tap is running around 80+ degrees when my tank is at 76. I do a 50-70% water change weekly and it'll raise my tank temp to around 78-79. Will this stress out the fish? I don't know how else to match the water temp to my tank since...

Yeah I bought a batch of 12 young ones so there was no way to control that. As they mature I'll be able to tell which ones are male and will try to adjust the numbers.

My only other guess is that there are more male congo tetras than females? Could that affect the school?

I've read that blue acaras tend to be aggressive toward their own species. Nonetheless, they are leaving the tetras alone, but will run into each other during feeding time, which is to be expected.

I have nothing against getting a filter. It's just one more thing I need to service when I might not have the time to service it when it needs to. This tank would be my 3rd tank in the house and I want it as low maintenance as possible.
