I did once have a nerite snail, but gave it away about 2 or 3 months ago (because it was constantly eating the driftwood and pooing everywhere)

On a previous post of mine, I found I had freshwater limpets in my tank. Now i have discovered these little white dots all on the suction pads from my filter. are these the eggs of the limpets ?

So I found quite a lot of these little white things in my tank ? assuming they are snails ? What are they exactly and how can i get rid of them ? thanks

I’m going to add onto this thread, and say my Nerite Snail. I bought the snail to eat the algae that had started to grow in my tank, but he/she didn’t do a very good job of it. The snail also constantly eats away at the Driftwood I have and just constantly leaves piles of 💩 everywhere.

How long are neons normally eggbound for ? and do you have any idea what could be wrong ? I have 8 other neons and they are all fine.

Hi all, so one of my neon tetras is rather large and has been large for a long time now. I read online that it is carrying eggs and the male neons need to chase the female in order for her to release the eggs. However this has not happened and I have just noticed that it was sort of floating...

Just to add on to this thread, I decided to leave my tank light off for about 3 days and didn’t feed the fish for the 3 days. And now the majority of the algae has gone (obviously the snail and/or shrimp has ate it) I am now going to leave my blinds shut through the day and just turn the tank...

I have just logged on as I have found I have the same problem in my tank. and was hoping someone would be able to help me in getting rid of the green hair algae. I think I may have the algae from having the light on for too long

Thanks for the input everyone. I’m not to bothered about breading them. I was just concerned that the fish has been like that for a few months. I only have the one tank and don’t have space for another, so I’m not able to separate them. I have 9 neons and 1 amano shrimp in the tank.

Hi all, I have 9 neons, of which 2 of them are looking ‘pregnant’ They have been like this for a few months now. At first I just assumed they would soon release eggs, but that hasn’t happened. Can anyone share some advice. Thanks

Tank Update! So a few months down the line and my swords have grown rather big. My tank is now like a bit of forest, and my little neons love to swim in and out between the leaves.

ah i’ll make it a weekly thing to do this then! Thanks for the advice. and to be honest i do feel like i have more of them in my aquarium, compared to when i first got them.

i’m going to take a closer inspection at mine then. because maybe they are more of a brown colour then, and i just have bad eye sight ahah

Well i never would of thought that! thanks for the tip. If the roots on the plant are black, does that mean that individual one is dead ?

That’s excellent then! Do you know much about Salvinia Auriculata ? and any useful information i should know about them. I’ve noticed that some of mine seem to be off colour. they look black, but it seems the leaves are more transparent, and the roots are black

I think i will definitely just go for the nerite snail then! Dont want to have to deal with a tank over run by snails haha

yeah i read up a fair bit on filters, and the media. and yeah apparently they tell you to change the cartridges monthly because the carbon begins to leak into the aquarium. and definitely don’t want that, but also dont want to be throwing away all the beneficial bacteria that grows on the filter...
