I've never had a big problem with algae but my tanks have always been thick jungles, never fake plants. I agree that real plants help with algae.

It is the nicest shop I don't have to drive a long way to get to. My favorite shop is 45 minutes away from where I live but I don't get fish from there in the winter just in case something happens on the drive back.

Yeah I was probably just trusting him for too much. For my next tank I'll do my research and if what he says is in massive contradiction to my research, I'll probably find a new place at that point.

To my knowledge, the closest to all black would be a tuxedo or black hamberg platy. They still have some other color tho. If you want that all black colored fish, molly is the way to go then.

That should work, I've kept all expect that shark and they've all got along well. I'm pretty sure the Mollies like a different hardness of water from the rest but they are pretty tough fish. I do prefer Platies over Mollies but that's up to you, they're pretty similar so all that really changes...

Yeah that would work real nice. The Gourami can be territorial but, in my experience, so long as they are added at the same time, they'll get along. I've only had issues when I add a Gourami later on after my other ones have already established themselves.

If I had that tank I would probably do: 4 Black Lace Angelfish or 4 Opaline Gourami 12 Skirt Tetra 12 Julli Cory 12 Zebra Danio 1 Bristlenose Pleco 8 Mystery Snails This is what I keep in my 45 just in smaller numbers

I wouldn't put two plecos together, they can be mean to each other. I would do snails, I love my mystery snails, as help but adding more animals means more waste so your issue might just get worse. Definitely stay away from Algae Eaters. They are massive and mean. I have 4 that are around 7...

Yeah, here he is. His name is Jorge. He's about 6 inches long and has been in my tank for 1.5 months. He is a Colombian Spotted Pleco aka Sailfin Pleco.

Yeah, he looks a lot like that grey one. The only threat might be my Colombian Spotted Pleco but he's probably getting rehomed. If I do rehome that one, I'll move the Rubber Lip over to the 45.

What is the size of your tank? Depending on size, I would say a pair of either dwarf/opaline gourami or 10 neon tetras. Snails are also good, either mystery or nerite, I would probably do 4 of either.

It will be heavily planted soon and it has a couple of structures, so lots of hiding spots and shade. I'll get the betta and two nerite snails and watch them interact, if they do interact.
