    African Viper Shrimp

Make sure you have plenty of flow. I lost my first few because I didn't have enough flow in my tank
  3. B

    Identification

That's a black devil snail, Faunus ater, rather than a rabbit.

Agree with all of these. (except plecos, how dare you ;)) Agree yet again. And seeing arowana and red tailed cats readily available at my LFS is always a big let down.

    Fighting bristlenose?

Yes, they do look to be fighting, you can see they have their cheek odontodes out. And their fins are a mess. I wouldn't house two male BN in one tank.

    Royal Ram?

55 gallons. It's not entirely the footprint that matters (thought it does), so much as the way that the tank is set up. Either way, my rams all congregate together most of the time, apart from when they pair off the breed.

    Royal Ram?

Royal rams are one of the names that are applied to Bolivians. Just not very often. They are easy to tell apart anyway, ramirezi have red eyes and sparkling blue spots I have found them to be good in community tanks. Even when they breed. I have five of them.

    Sicyopterus Longifilis

I've come across them before, but didn't end up getting them. Like Stiphodon, high flow and oxygen levels would be needed for these gobies. Not something I can replicate at the moment.

    I think...

It is likely that she is gravid, and could be looking to spawn. But they shouldn't actually have laid them yet. She wouldn't be big if that was the case. And they aren't nesters and don't display parental care, if they had laid eggs they would have been eaten pretty quickly with the adults still...

What could be wrong with my dalmation molly

The pleco looks to be a clown pleco, Panaqolus maccus. They are a smaller pleco, staying around 3.5 inches, but I wouldn't house any species of pleco in a tank as small as a 10 gallon. Some places will sell them as tiger clown plecos (or just tiger plecos) in order to drive up sales, as a name...

It's a tiger shovelnose catfish and an arowana

True julii are incredibly hard to come across. It is more likely that you have Corydoras trilineatus, which are often sold as julii Corydoras. So much so that they are now referred to as the false julii cory. Not a name I like for them though, the three striped cory is much better. Both...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

They aren't playing, as such. Many Corydoras, including trilineatus which those ones seem to be, will spawn in areas in which the flow is high, so flow from bubbles can get them into an excited state. Many plecos come from areas in which there is high flow, so there are times you may see them...

    Worms!

    Yes, drain fly larvae

Indeed. I would find a plate full of pancakes more interesting. Though I would be slightly concerned if they had eyes.

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to continue along with my blasphemous ways! There's likely nothing that is going to convince me that they are worth it. I find them to be a pretty boring fish

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Yeah, they were selectively bred to look like that as far as I'm aware. It completely takes away from the look of the oscar.

That's a nice sized tank. I do feel that a larger tank with tankmates is better for them than the small tanks that most people keep them in. I've come to learn that most here consider keeping a Betta in communities as a sin. They would strongly advise not to keep them in communities, you likely...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

I've only kept Bettas as centerpiece fish. I prefer to give them larger tanks with other fish, than to keep them alone in tiny tanks. More of my potentially unpopular opinions: Algae is good. I like algae in my tanks. Nothing wrong with it. Pest snails aren't pests. They are great to have in...

    Snail question....

There are a fair amount of pictures online of it. It is the mantle lobe, which extends over the exterior of the shell. The mantle is the muscle that holds the body of the snail to the shell. Some pictures of it from the internet:

    Plecos on the nest

Would this be the one you are referring to? If not, a link would help to clear this up. If this is the one, and I can't find many others about plecos, this is about Hypostomus plecostomus as I stated.
  28. B

    Plecos on the nest

That article isn't talking about plecos in general, but specifically one of the plecos labled as the common pleco, Hypostomus plecostomus. And they aren't wrong, you would find it hard to find an aquarium bred H. plecostomus because they dig deep burrows into the banks of rivers in order to...

    Lobster help!

Blue crayfish are known for being territorial, so it's usually recommended to only house one in a tank unless it is a large tank with plenty of places to hide. Fighting is something that will happen when you keep them together, and injuries and/or death are not uncommon. They can live just fine...

That's a pacu. Very impressive even as a picture. I haven't managed to see the albinos in person yet. No it's fine, you don't have to do that.

    Tophat Blenny fish

They aren't new to the hobby. Just not seen very often. Fishbase states that they are a marine fish, and that the adults are only rarely found in brackish. I wouldn't house them in fresh.

Amano shrimp do kill nano fish

Yep. The females were quite large.
  33. B

    Is this normal?

If it does indeed stay small like this, and doesn't act overly aggressive towards the Corydoras once they have gotten used to one another, I don't see why not. Corys can be quite curious and silly though, so I would keep my eye on them to make sure they don't get themselves into trouble. I've...

Are these regular parrots or polar blue parrots?
  35. B

    Is this normal?

Most of what I've heard about them suggests that they stay that small, or at least smaller than 6 inches. Though I have heard that they should be less aggressive than convicts. On care guides you tend to hear that they are a parrot x convict cross, on forums I've heard that they don't have...

The worst ICH infection I've ever seen

That doesn't look like ich to me. It looks like epistylis, which is an organism that generally indicates a bacterial infection has taken hold of the fish. It needs to be treated by a broad spectrum antibiotic in the food. You can read about the difference, and how to treat here. Here are some...

    Dwarf Gourami sad?

Both of those dwarf gourami are males. I would rehome one, as it was only a matter of time before one of them ended up bullying the other. The gold gourami is male too, which is another factor that is working against these gouramis. This is a species that gets bigger than the dwarf gourami, and...

Weird worm/leech released babys in fry tank help!!!

That is a snail leech. They are well known for their parental care, like carrying their babies underneath them. They should eat snails and small inverts, so your fry should be safe. But best to remove them if possible to be on the safe side.

    Help identifying gourami please

Yeah, they may. The original honey and thick lipped gourami would paired together in order to produce this male. So I could certainly see them being interested in one another.
