I agree with Colin_T. A 20 gallon aquarium will weigh a good 225+# when filled. I weigh around that much and I'd never attempt to put my full weight on that stand. For around the same price you can get a stand designed for the tank from Petco/Petsmart.

I wouldn't keep goldfish in a 20, at least not long term. All the different species that I know of get 8"+. Goldfish are also cold water species, so that narrows down what you can keep with them. I've never kept rams, but I know they like a nice toasty tank that is warmer than most species...

Yeah, I'd say that would be overstocking unless you're heavily planted and plan to do extra water changes. Lots of fairly incompatible fish and with the exception of the gouramis, they are all schooling fish and would best be kept in groups of 6+ (more is better). Which 20 gallon do you have...
