Must-see documentary about wild-caught fish of the Amazon

Well, it is a complicated story. It discusses how the crisis of the industry in the last 15 years harmed local communitites and the "piabeiros" (fish collectors). But it also shows the extremely important work of the Piaba Project. I wish more people could get engaged, support the project and...

    Sponge filter

I always keep a sponge filter in the tank so that I have a a filter with beneficial bacteria when I have to setup a quarantine tank or a hospital tank. It is also very useful when the power goes off for longer periods of time. I can then attach a battery-powered air pump to it and keep...

Empire Gudgeon not coloring up. Why?

I got a Empire Gudgeon (hypseleotris compressa) juvenile pair six months ago. They have grown huge and healthy. However, the male has not developed any coloration. No red, just a boring brown. Fishless cycling using bloodworms? And needing some confirmation

Do not use bloodworms or food. For an effective and faster cycling, you can use pure ammonia. I recommend this product: https://store.drtimsaquatics.com/Ammonium-Chloride-Solution-for-Fishless-Cycling.html

55 gallon almost fully stocked... recommendations?

Your tank is overstocked. You should be taking fish out, not adding more. The rainbowfish you have can grow to almost 5 inches and would require a 75g or larger tank. There are smaller size rainbowfish, but not the ones you have.
